Browns vs Cardinals Betting Preview

  • Cleveland Browns -3 (-120) vs Arizona Cardinals
  • Total: 49.5 Points.
  • Arizona is an early-season specialist. During the first seven weeks of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons, the Cardinals are 14-5 against the spread.
  • The under is 10-1 in Arizona’s last 11 road games.
  • Cleveland is 2-5 against the spread in the Browns’ last seven home games.

Games for the Browns and Cardinals went about how I expected last week, the Browns ran the ball a ton, but in a shootout the Browns passing game just can’t keep up with the elite passing attacks as they put up 42 and still lost. The Cardinals have become very predictable with their game plans which has worked out well if you’ve been following them and wagering on them. They have a balanced offense as they’re the 8th best rushing offense, and the 6th best passing offense. PFF even ranks their pass blocking as second best in the NFL. We’re seeing Arizona spread the ball to lots of different receivers and running backs. Against San Fran five different players had a rush, and seven players had at least one catch, and that’s been a consistent theme for them this season, using lots of weapons week in and week out.

For Cleveland, we know what they’re going to do and that’s run run run. It’s not a surprise that the Browns are No. 1 in rushing yards this season with 938 yards so far, but like last week it’s going to be the passing game that could hold them back as they’re the 8th-worst in the league. Even last week in a game where they scored 42 points, Mayfield only completed 23 passes, and was aided by a 71 catch and run by the tight end Njoku.

The Browns have lost both of their games to elite offenses in high scoring games, so I wonder how good this defense really is as they’ve shut down offenses like Houston, Chicago and Minnesota, but gave up huge games to Kansas City and Los Angeles Chargers. I’ve been high on Arizona this season, but their rush defense is about to get run over this Sunday as they’ve already given up 700 yards rushing and PFF grades them out as the 2nd worst rush defense in the league. This game is probably going to look similar to last weeks Browns-Chargers games. Arizona has scored 30 or more points in four out of five games, Cleveland is going to move the ball and score on the ground, this game should feature lots of points from both sides, I’ll be on the over.

For the side, it’s Arizona and the points for me. Kyler Murray is playing MVP level football right now, and they are healthy. Two weeks ago in a huge game for them, they went into LA and left no doubt who the better team was. They ran a fairly basic offense last week in a win over San Francisco (similar to what they did against Jacksonville the week before the Rams game), and I believe they’ll have some new looks and plays for this game. I’ll take Arizona and the +3 and of course, if we’re taking points…we’ll sprinkle the money line.

Cleveland Browns vs Arizona Cardinals Analysis from The GoldSheet

The only undefeated team in the NFL has already won their first two games as a road underdog against the Titans and Rams and they’ll be in that spot again as they line up against Cleveland. The Browns had the Chargers on the ropes for much of last Sunday but couldn’t stop Justin Herbert or Austin Ekeler in a 47-42 loss. After posting double-digit wins over the Texans and Bears at home, this will be the Browns’ toughest test in front of the Dawg Pound in the first of three consecutive home games that include a Thursday night date with the Broncos and a Halloween matchup with the Steelers.

There are pass rushers everywhere you look in this matchup with J.J. Watt, Chandler Jones, Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney all healthy and set to make life uncomfortable for Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. The total opened at 53 and has quickly been bet down and although there are a number of playmakers on the field at all times, these teams both want to run the football and rely on their sturdy defense. Both come off competitive games that were at opposite ends of the spectrum in that one was a shootout and the other featured just three touchdowns and very little offensive fireworks.
