Pelicans vs Suns Analysis

*All lines provided by DraftKings

The 8th seeded New Orleans Pelicans look to take a 2-1 series lead over the #1 seed Phoenix Suns. The Suns completely controlled Game One, winning 110-99 and were stunned in Game Two with a 125-114 loss.

The Pelicans won the game thanks in part to an amazing effort from Brandon Ingram who scored 37 points. The big story here is the hamstring strain of Devin Booker that will keep him on the shelf for 2-3 weeks.

A series that looked like a foregone conclusion is now totally up for grabs. Tip-off is slated for 9:30pm EST, let’s check out some props.

Pelicans vs Suns Team Total Props

The Phoenix Suns are favored by two points with a total of 216, setting the Pelican team total at 107.5 and the Suns at 108.5. These teams combined for 239 points due to both teams shooting over 50% and that’s probably not happening again.

The Pelicans were 21st in scoring this season with an average of 109 points a game. They scored 125 in Game Two but will regress as the Suns ratchet up their defense without Booker. The Suns were a top five scoring team with just shy of 115 points per game.

The Suns offense is almost surely going to take a step back without the services of Booker. I’m expecting more of defensive grind in Game Three, especially from the Suns as they adjust to life without Devin Booker. Give me the Pelicans team total under.

Team Total Prop Play: New Orleans Pelicans Under 107.5

Pelicans vs Suns Player Props

Obviously, the theme of this article is how Devin Booker not playing effects this game. So, the immediate reaction is what Suns players get all those shots and points that Devin Booker takes and makes.

I’m looking at Mikal Bridges based on his extensive workload even with Booker on the floor. Bridges hasn’t missed a game in his NBA career and has a motor that doesn’t quit, playing 40+ minutes without batting an eye.

Bridges has a Points + Rebounds + Assists line of 23.5, he has had 19 PRA in Game One and 27 in Game Two. The 27 was when Booker left the game in the 3rd quarter. I have to believe that Bridges can go over this low number based on usage and minutes alone.

I’m also giving a hard look at Jonas Valanciunas over 12.5 rebounds. JV had 25 in the first game and 13 in the second game, despite not getting a single 4th quarter board.

He has averaged 30 rebound chances in the first two games and had 12, 14, 16 and 17 against Phoenix during the regular season.

Player Prop Play: Jonas Valanciunas Over 12.5 Rebounds

Pelicans vs Suns Same Game Parlay

We can keep this one really simple and roll with Valanciunas rebounds lowered as much as possible to over 10.5. We will also utilize Bridges and ask for over 19.5 PRA.

Add those two together and get a high probability two leg parlay at -115 odds. However, I really like the Suns to band together tonight and get the victory.

Look for Chris Paul to get everyone involved and set up some outside shots against the leagues 27th ranked team at guarding three-pointers. The Pels shot 57% from beyond the arc last game and there is no way they duplicate that effort.

The Suns were 25-16 against the spread on the road during the regular season and despite the Game Two loss are 5-1 ATS in their last six against New Orleans.

The more I look at the Suns money line the more I like it. You can play it safe with two legs at -115, but let’s add the Suns money line for +225.

Same Game Parlay Play:
Jonas Valanciunas Over 10.5 Rebounds
Mikal Bridges Over 19.5 PRA
Phoenix Suns money line -135
+225
