Nets vs Heat Analysis

The Miami Heat travel to the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn for a clash with the Nets on Thursday night. The Nets are coming off back-to-back losses to the Toronto Raptors, getting blown out at home 133-97 and losing 109-108 on the road.

The Heat fell apart late and lost a heartbreaker 120-119 to the Milwaukee Bucks last night. The Heat have won both head-to-head meetings, 115-111 at home and 106-93 in Brooklyn.

These teams will meet for a fourth and final time in late March.

Heat Heartbreaker

The Miami Heat got outscored 21-6 down the stretch last night to ultimately lose by one point on a last second driving layup by Jrue Holiday.

The loss snapped a four game win streak for Miami. Tyler Herro led the Heat with 30 points on 6 of 10 from three-point land.

The Heat defense has remained consistent as they rank 5th in points allowed with just shy of 105 points a game. They are just below average offensively at 16th with 109.6 points per game.

It unknown if Kyle Lowry will continue to miss games with personal issues. The status of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is unknown as they could be rested based on this being a back-to-back game.

Return of Durant

The Nets are hopeful that superstar Kevin Durant will return tonight after missing a month and a half with a knee injury and not popping up on the injury report today.

It couldn’t come at a better time as the Nets have lost two straight and 15 of their last 18 games. In their latest loss to the Toronto Raptors, James Johnson led Brooklyn in scoring with 19 points.

Kyrie Irving will miss his third straight game based on the games being played in New York and Toronto. The Nets are still waiting for Ben Simmons to play his first game and Andre Drummond is also questionable.

Brooklyn ranks 11th with 110.7 points scored and 20th in points allowed with 111.6 points per game.

Nets vs Heat Prediction

The Miami Heat are favored by 2.5 points with a 221.5 over/under. First off, this line tells you that either Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo or both players will miss tonight’s contest.

This line would be set way higher if Miami was 100% healthy. The Heat have been in amazing form, especially on the road, going 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six road games.

While Durant is returning it could take time for the team to gel around him as the centerpiece. I think that Miami can cover this small spread regardless of who sits with team defense and three-point shooting. If most of the Heat are good to go we get great value as this line will shoot way up.

Prediction: Miami Heat -1.5

Nets vs Heat Player Props

From GoldSheet: Brooklyn looking to take a step in its long road back with Kevin Durant returning from his 6½-week layoff due to his knee injury.

No doubt he makes a difference as the Nets are 24-12 SU when he’s in the lineup and 8-19 when he is not. The Heat are coming off a taxing game in Milwaukee last night, falling 120-119 to the Bucks, blowing a 14-point lead in the final 5:50 of the 4th quarter, as Milwaukee’s rally was capped by a Jrue Holiday driving layup with 1.9 seconds left.

Miami has bounced back with vigor after a loss this season, logging a 14-7 spread mark in the game following a setback. At FanDuel, Bam Adebayo points are 19.5 (over -118) with Seth Curry’s 3-pointers made at 2.5 (over -120).
