NBA Props for Thursday: Reed Sheppard Houston Rockets OVER 13.5 Points (-105)

Reed Sheppard has been on fire recently with 14+ points in each of his last five games and 8 of his last 10 games while landing on 13 and 10 in the two games where he fell short of this line.

The Houston Rockets are playing the second leg of a back-to-back after a hard-fought victory over the Washington Wizards last night and Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun & Jabari Smith Jr are all listed as questionable.

Sheppard has already seen a boost in minutes & volume recently as he’s averaged 32.9 minutes & 14.6 field goal attempts during his last five games.

Now Sheppard gets an opportunity to feast on a Golden State Warriors team that has allowed the 2nd most points to opposing point guards (27.2/game) and the 6th most pull-up field goals in the NBA.

Sheppard already scored a season high 31 points in his lone head-to-head game against the Warriors in a late November game with all of the questionable players listed above on the court.

I could see at one of those players sitting tonight after playing a boatload of minutes last night and Sheppard has covered this line in both games without Thompson (starting PG) on the floor this season.

NBA Props for Thursday: Nique Clifford Sacramento Kings OVER 3.5 Assists (-140)

Nique Clifford has covered this line in each of his last three games and 10 of his last 13 games including a 6-assist effort in his lone head-to-head game against the New Orleans Pelicans on February 9th.

The Sacramento Kings are in full on tank mode with Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine & Keegan Murray on the shelf so Clifford has seen insane time with 39+ minutes in each of his last three games.

When Clifford has played 39+ minutes, he has cleared this line in 6/6 games when playing 35+ minutes this season.

The Pelicans have allowed the 4th most assists overall and to opposing shooting guards with an average of 5.6 per game.

This is also a slight pace up spot for Clifford & the Kings (18th) as New Orleans ranks 11th in tempo. That’s reflected in the huge total of 234.5 and we shouldn’t expect a lick of defense from these tanking teams.

The spread is -5.5 but we don’t have to be concerned about a blowout as Sacramento has fully embraced the youth movement with players like Clifford playing huge minutes in lopsided games.
