Denver Nuggets vs Washington Wizards Predictions

  • Denver Nuggets -3.5 vs Washington Wizards
  • Total: 216.5 Points
  • The over is 12-2 in the Nuggets’ last 14 games.

The Wizards have been struggling as of late and the big road trip they’re on isn’t helping. They are in the middle of a 10 game stretch where 9 of them are on the road, and they’ve lost three out of fourth start that stretch with the only win being against the Pistons in overtime. Meanwhile, the Nuggets just wrapped up seven game road trip going 4-3 and will finally play a game at home with a day of rest as well. Denver is -3.5 and the total has opened at 218, so we’ll see if a play is worthy of our time and money.

The Nuggets are probably happy with 4-3 on that road trip as one of their losses was to the Bulls and another was in a brutal back to back where the first game went to overtime in New Orleans and they had to travel to San Antonio for a game the very next night. With Jokic back the Nuggets are night and day better (obviously), but on the season they don’t consistently cover the spread as they are 11-15 ATS for the season and only 5-6 at home. Nothing really jumps out for season trends for Denver, but for Washington there are some things we need to pay attention to.

The Wizards started off the year going 10-3 to tease their fans, but they’ve cooled off as the season has gone on. I’m not really worried about season ATS with them, but I am interested in them not covering the spread in their last five games, and Kyle Kuzma is out against Denver. The other big concern is they rank 10th worst in guarding centers, and that’s going to be a problem going up against the reigning MVP.

The Wizards are slumping and it’s a brutal road trip for them, and with Denver having a good matchup against the interior of Washington, and finally getting home I have to roll with the Nuggets here. The number of -3.5 is good enough for me to play, I would play it up to -5 as I think we see a rested Nuggets team perform well in front of their home crowd.

OFFICIAL PLAY: Nuggets -3.5

Denver Nuggets vs Washington Wizards Analysis from The GoldSheet

Back home again for Denver after an extended seven-game road trip that at least could stay in San Antonio for the last two games of the excursion. That can be a tricky scheduling spot, and one the Nuggets haven’t dealt with too well this season, failing to cover 4 of 5 thus far at Ball Arena when returning home from the road. Denver was at least able to alternate wins and losses on their just-completed 7-game tour, helped by the return of Nikola Jokic to active duty that coincided with entirety of the road swing. Meanwhile Washington’s defense has been shot full of holes the past two weeks, a bit surprising as the Wiz ranked fifth on the stop end into late November. Not lately, however, and Washington’s opponent turnover rate was recently on course for the NBA’s second-worst such mark in the past 25 years, helping to explain five straight spread Ls for Wes Unseld, Jr’s troops The recent trend to note both ways, however, is “over” (Wiz 6-1-1 last eight, Nuggets 10-1 last 11 and 12-2 last 14).
