Atlanta Hawks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Analysis
The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to Atlanta for an interconference clash with the Hawks in a game where both sides battle for playoff positioning.
The Hawks lost a hard fought game 134-125 at home against the Boston Celtics on Saturday. The Timberwolves lost a nail-biter 124-123 in overtime against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
This will be the first of two games as these teams meet again on March 22nd in Minnesota and both teams have identical records of 34-34. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Hawks Hope To Bounce Back
The Atlanta Hawks fell back to .500 at 34-34 after losing at home against Boston on Saturday. The Celtics had a big edge in three-point shooting as they shot 20-42 for 47.6% from beyond the arc while Atlanta shot only 10-34 29.4%.
Trae Young led the game in scoring with 35 points and assists with 13. Clint Capela added 12 points and 9 rebounds while De’Andre Hunter chipped in with 16 points.
The Hawks currently occupy the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games behind the 7th seeded Heat and 2 5 games from missing the play-in tournament. Atlanta ranks 5th in scoring with 117.3 points a game on 48.2% from the floor.
Defense has been a different story as they sit at 22nd in defensive rating and 23rd in defensive scoring with 117.2 points allowed per game. Bogdan Bogdonavic was spotted at shootaround this morning and is listed as probable with a back injury.
Wolves Look For Redemption
The Minnesota Timberwolves slipped back to .500 at 34-34 after losing to Brooklyn on Friday. They may have lost the game at the free throw line as they shot only 18-29 62% compared to the Nets shooting 24-33 for 72%.
Anthony Edwards led his team in scoring with 32 points on 12-26 from the floor and 3-9 from long distance. Rudy Gobert recorded a 26 point, 13 rebound double-double while Kyle Anderson and Jaden McDaniels each scored 15 points.
The Timberwolves currently occupy the 7th seed in the Western Conference, only one game from avoiding the play-in tournament but only one game from missing it altogether. Minnesota is an above average scoring team with 115.4 points a game on 49% shooting.
They sit at 11th in defensive rating and 18th in defensive scoring with 115.7 allowed per game. Rudy Gobert (ankle) and Austin Rivers (back) are both listed as questionable for this contest while Jaylen Nowell has been ruled out with a calf injury.
Atlanta Hawks vs Minnesota Timberwolves Expert Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks are 5.5 point home favorites over the Minnesota Timberwolves with a high total of 244.5. These teams mirror each other in many different ways as both rely on offense and both have the exact same record at 34-34 with similar playoff seedings.
The Hawks are doing much better on the injury front as only Bogdonavic is listed on the injury report while Minnesota could be without Gobert and Rivers tonight while already missing a superstar in KAT.
The Hawks have owned the Twolves, 5-0 ATS/SU in their last five head-to-head meetings and 16 wins in the last 19 games at State Farm Arena. I’m backing the Hawks in this one.
