The NBA has given out the 6th Man of the Year award (6MOY) since the 1982-83 season, and a player must come off the bench in more games than he starts to be eligible for the award.

Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford have won the most 6MOY with three each and the only other players with two are Kevin McHale, Ricky Pierce and Detlef Schrempf. Williams, McHale and Schrempf are the only players to win the award in back-to-back seasons.

2025-26 NBA 6th Man of the Year Prediction: Jordan Clarkson, Knicks (+1200)

Jordan Clarkson won this award during the 2022-21 campaign as the Utah Jazz finished atop the Western Conference but since then the franchise has suffered a steep decline and he hasn’t garnered the same attention.

Now Clarkson joins a New York Knicks team that needs a spark plug off the bench. This sets up a perfect landing spot in New York as Clarkson can take the pressure off of Jalen Brunson.

Clarkson has averaged 16 points & 3.4 rebounds per game since joining the league and his production has remained consistent as he averaged 16.2 points & 3.2 rebounds per game last season.

Clarkson simply didn’t get the attention he deserved while playing in Utah and now he’s in the Big Apple where the lights shine the brightest.

2025-26 NBA 6th Man of the Year Prediction (Long shot): Jared McCain, 76ers (+2200)

In just 23 games in the NBA, Jared McCain has shown flashes of being an elite scorer while averaging 15 points per game on 46% shooting from field across 25.7 minutes per game.

The 20-year-old Duke product has all the tools to become one the most exciting 6th men in the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers seem to always be dealing with injuries but if Tyrese Maxey can stay healthy, McCain could provide a spark off the bench.

McCain himself is currently dealing with a thumb injury that could cost him some minimal time at the beginning of the season. However, McCain still holds the 9th best odds to win the 6th man and that highlights his potential.
