Bellator 302 Predictions

Patricio Pitbull -130 v Jeremy Kennedy +100

This fight is brutal to try and pick a winner because we have no idea what we’re getting from Pitbull. This is a guy who looked absolutely awful against Sergio Pettis last June, and then got KO’d in RIZIN a month later, and then we find out he had a hurt neck.

If he’s back to being the old Pitbull, his pressure and striking should be good enough to take out Kennedy, but Pitbull is 36 and has over 40 professional fights, and he has a lot of wear and tear.

Kennedy is coming off a nice win against Carvalho where he used his takedowns and ground game to win a pretty convincing win, but he didn’t look amazing on the feet, and if Pitbull is back to form this could be a Pitbull domination on the feet.

I don’t think I can bet on this fight before it starts because of the unknowns with Pitbull, but I think taking this fight to go the distance might be a good bet.

Pitbull’s last four Bellator fights have gone the distance, and if Kennedy gets Pitbull down he could just hold him there for three boring rounds.

Fabian Edwards -125 v Aaron Jeffery -105

If you want to watch a fun striking match, don’t watch Aaron Jeffery’s last fight against Rosta. Give Jeffery credit for winning the wrestling battle and landing more strikes inside the clinch, but man was that a grueling fight to watch.

Jeffery’s fight before that against Salter was fairly similar with Salter getting the win, but before that Jeffery had two KO wins so we know he has KO power.

On the feet, I think Edwards is much faster with better striking, but the strength of schedule for Edwards is not impressive. In 2022 he beat the corpse of Lyota Machida and Charlie Ward who has now lost three in a row, and then in 2023 he beat Mousasi who is almost 40 years old and has 60 pro fights of wear and tear, and when he stepped up in competition he got finished by Johnny Eblen.

I’ll lean Jeffery here as I think Edwards is overrated and has his high ranking due to beating old and washed fighters.

Leandro Higo -125 v James Gallagher +105

Higo showed some good things in his last fight against Mikhailov as MIkhailov got Higo down and in a tough position on the ground in round one, but Higo survived and came out strong in round two to get Mikhailov against the fence and then into a guillotine.

However, I thought it was a bit of a hail mary, and he didn’t show much in the striking game or anywhere else really. Gallagher will be the better wrestler, but if he isn’t careful he could suffer the same fate as Mikhailov.

This fight is really tough to call, but I’ll take a stab at Gallagher at plus money. If he doesn’t get submitted, he can probably control Higo for the entire fight en route to a very…and I mean VERY…boring decision win.

Tim Wilde -115 v Manoel Sousa -105

Sousa comes into this fight undefeated, but I think Wilde hands him his first loss here. Sousa is a young fighter who has looked good so far, but not against great competition and I think this step up will expose some holes in the defense of Sousa.

He leaves himself wide open to counter shots, and I think Wilde will be able land some leg kicks and counter punches that Sousa hasn’t seen before.

Wilde also has great cardio so the longer this fight goes on, the more Sousa will fade and Wilde showed finishing power in the third round in his last fight.

Sousa has a lot of early finishes in his career, but those were in CFFC and SFT, and when he stepped up to just the PFL Challenger Series, he went to a split decision against Paulo Henrique who isn’t a great fighter. I love the odds on Wilde in this one.

Bellator 302 Main Event: Corey Anderson -375 v Karl Moore +310

It’s a steep price, but I like Anderson to win here, and maybe we can get a better price on Anderson to win by decision when props come out, but I’m not that impressed by Karl Moore.

He’s won four in a row in Bellator, but not against the best guys, and his last fight against Polizzi was pretty uneventful as it was a slow wrestling and clinch match, and to be honest I’m not sure he won that fight, and even he seemed surprised when they announced his name.

Anderson isn’t the most exciting fighter either, but he’s a tested veteran who’s only loss in Bellator is a decision loss to Nemkov, who’s a killer.

The other thing about this fight is the five rounds factor and I don’t think Moore is ready to beat Anderson in three rounds. Anderson is the pick, most likely by decision.
