Red Sox vs Angels Analysis

The Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox begin a three game series from Fenway Park on Tuesday night. The Red Sox record fell 9-14 after losing their last game 9-5 to the Baltimore Orioles.

The Angels also lost their last game 3-0 to the Chicago White Sox last night, dropping their record to 15-9. Boston sends Michael Wacha to the mound, while Noah Syndergaard gets the nod for the Angels. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST.

Angels Head East

The Los Angeles Angels currently sit at 15-9 after splitting a four game series with the Chicago White Sox. On Monday they struggled to score and lost 3-0.

They were held to only two hits, a double by Taylor Ward and a single by Kurt Suzuki. The southpaw Patrick Sandoval took the loss, hurling six innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits and three walks.

The Angels offense has been rolling, they rank 4th with an average of 4.8 runs per game. Noah Syndergaard was scratched from his last start due to an illness but looks ready to roll for tonight. Thor has been magnificent in his three starts this season. Syndergaard is 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 0.82 WHIP across three quality outings.

Red Sox Turn To Wacha

The Boston Red Sox are coming off a series where they lost two of three to the last place Baltimore Orioles. They lost the last game of the series 9-5 on Sunday afternoon. Nick Pivetta took the loss, dropping his record to 0-4.

Pivetta threw only 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs on six hits and zero walks while striking out five. J.D. Martinez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 4 RBI. The Red Sox offense has struggled for the majority of the season as they have an average of only 3.52 runs per game.

Getting the start for Boston will be Michael Wacha who sits with a 2-0 record and 1.77 ERA. In his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays he went six innings giving up four hits and one run.

Red Sox vs Angels Prediction

The money line is set at -125 for the Los Angeles Angels and +105 for the Boston Red Sox with a total of 8.5. Amazingly the Red Sox have been an under machine this season with the under cashing at a 16-6-1 clip.

They rank in the bottom third of the league in batting average, OPS, runs and homeruns. They have scored two runs or less in 5 of their last 9 games. The Angels are closer to .500 with totals, but four of their last five games have went under the total.

Both starting pitchers have been sharp and should be able to limit the opposition. The Angels could also be without Shohei Ohtani as he is dealing with a lingering groin injury. The total seems a little bit high, but let’s keep the bullpens out of it and go with a first five inning under.

Prediction: Under 4.5 F5 (first five innings) -110
