Kansas City Royals
Kansas City captured the first game of the series with a 6-1 win on Tuesday, but the Royals’ offense has been struggling for most of the season. Even with that six-run performance last night, the Royals have scored an average of 2.7 runs per game in their last ten contests. Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. were essentially responsible for all of the Royals’ offense last night as the rest of the team went a combined 3-for-27.
The Royals are hitting .242 against left-hand pitching (No. 14 in MLB) with a .294 on-base percentage (No. 21) and a 69 wRC+ (No. 27). The promotion of power-hitting Jac Caglianone has not provided immediate help as the young 22-year-old is hitting just .196 with two extra-base hits in 52 plate appearances.
Texas Rangers
After a couple of disastrous years in Washington, Patrick Corbin has been a perfectly-average starting pitcher for the Rangers this season. He has not allowed more than three runs in any of his 12 starts this year, keeping Texas competitive in every game he starts.
Corbin enters Wednesday in the top-third among pitchers in average exit velocity, chase rate and hard-hit rate. His average exit velocity has dropped from 90.8 mph to 88.5 mph. His expected batting average allowed has dropped from .295 last year to .254 this year. His hard-hit rate has dropped from 46.7-percent to 36.1-percent. His expected ERA has dropped by a run-and-a-half from 5.53 last year to 4.02 this year. Corbin has a 3.00 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP in five starts at home this season.

Rangers vs Royals Prediction
Texas had off on Monday and Caleb Boushley was the only reliever used on Tuesday, so the Rangers’ bullpen is fully-rested and available behind Corbin.
The Royals have hit the fewest home runs in the league this season and they have generated the fewest walks. Kansas City’s lineup is No. 26 in weighted on-base average and No. 27 in barrel rate.
