NRFI Prediction 1: Phillies vs Marlins (-113)

We head to the first game on the slate with our first NRFI selection as Taijuan Walker and the Phillies head to take on Edward Cabrera and the Marlins with only 0.5 games separating them in the NL East.

Walker hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 15 of his 21 starts including his last two against the Orioles and Brewers. The Phillies have played to a NRFI in six straight games and nine of their last 11.

The Marlins have continued to be a heavily favored NRFI team ranking third to last in the MLB in first inning scoring. They’ve played to a NRFI in six of their last seven games as Cabrera hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 13 of his 16 total starts including his last six!

Four of six games between these NL East rivals have gone to a NRFI already this season so let’s play on another Phillies vs Marlins NRFI tonight with odds listed at -113 and first pitch set for 6:40pm ET.

NRFI Prediction 2: Reds vs Cubs (-128)

Cubs ace Marcus Stroman takes the mound tonight at home against Cincinnati in which current Reds hitters bat a combined .188 batting average against the Chicago righty.

Stroman has been atrocious in his last two outings so we believe some adjustments had to have been made before tonight’s start.

He hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 18 of his 22 total starts on the season as they take on Reds breakout starter Andrew Abbott sporting a 1.90 ERA on the season The Reds lefty hasn’t allowed a first inning run in seven of his 10 starts on the season including his last two against the Brewers and Giants.

The Cubs have the fourth worst first inning scoring offense in the MLB as both teams ride extended road trips into this series which could be a cause for some offensive fatigue out of the gates. Play on a Reds vs Cubs NRFI tonight at -128 with first pitch slated for 8:05pm ET.
