NRFI Best Bet Today #1: St. Louis Cardinals vs Pittsburgh Pirates (-160)

Paul Skenes has been an absolute menace in the first inning this season holding opponents scoreless in the first inning in all 17 of his starts as he goes for 18 tonight against the Cardinals.

Current Cardinals batters collectively sport a .217 average against Skenes and just a .304 slugging percentage heading into tonight.

He owns a 2.12 ERA this season and is a leading candidate to win the NL Cy Young Award. The Cardinals send Andre Pallante to the mound holding opponents scoreless in the first inning in 13 of his 16 starts on the season including three straight.

He’s allowed just two earned runs in his last 11 innings pitched with current Pirates batters hitting just .190 against Palate all time.

The Pirates offense has been on fire as of late, but we think there is finally some regression to the means tonight. Play on a Cardinals vs Pirates NRFI to occur at -160 with first pitch set for 6:40PM ET.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Milwaukee Brewers vs New York Mets (-120)

The Brewers and Mets go at it for the first time this season as Freddy Peralta gets the start for Milwaukee sporting a 2.90 ERA on the season.

Peralta has been solid in the first inning this season holding opponents scoreless in the first in 14 of 17 starts and current Mets batters collectively hitting just .143 against Peralta all-time.

New York has averaged just three runs per game in their last five and have played to a NRFI in seven of their last ten games.

They’ll send Clay Holmes to the mound who has held opponents scoreless in the first in nine straight starts and 14 of 16 in total this season.

This is the first season in which Holmes is a starter during his eight year career and he hasn’t disappointed going 3-1 in June with a 2.93 ERA.

The Brewers sit bottom three in first inning scoring this season, failing to do so in 76% of their games. First pitch for Brewers vs Mets is slotted for 7:10PM ET with odds for a NRFI to occur sitting at -120.
