The Nationals and Rangers wrap up their three-game series in Arlington tonight with Washington sending lefty Andrew Alvarez to the mound.
Sure, he has only given up three home runs in 75 innings pitched this season but one of those home runs came in his last start at the Mets so we’re sensing more regression to the means tonight in another road start.
We’re going to take Jake Burger to hit his home run prop batting .284 and slugging .539 against lefties this season compared to a .226 average and .389 slugging percentage against righties.
Burger has been a better hitter on the road this season but over the last week he is batting .429 and slugging .929 including two home runs.
Burger got the day off in yesterday’s 6-0 loss to the Nationals but we should expect to see him back in today rested up and taking his role in the middle of the batting order.
Take Burger to hit his home run prop at +470 with other Rangers to consider for a home run prop are Corey Seager (+420) and Wyatt Langford (+520).
MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #2: Yordan Alvarez (HOU) +230
It’s been a down month for Yordan Alvarez’s standards and we think with today’s shortened slate this is the perfect time to take his home run prop at decent odds.
Alvarez is in the driver’s seat to win the AL MVP Award and has a serious chance to win the triple crown as well. The Astros host the Angels in the rubber game of their three-game series as LA sends righty Grayson Rodriguez to the mound.
The Angels starter has allowed 10 home runs in 59 innings pitched this season and has struggled against left handed batters. Although he has only allowed five of his 10 home runs to lefties he allows a .318 batting average and .543 slugging percentage to them this season compared to a .240 average and .471 slugging percentage against right handers.
That lines up perfect with Alvarez who’s a lefty batting .338 and slugging .655 against right handed pitching this season including 27 of his 35 home runs.
The Astros DH has also been much better at home this season batting .369 and slugging .708 compared to a .262 average and .507 slugging percentage on the road.
With that let’s take Alvarez at +230 to hit his home run prop tonight with other Astros to look at for a home run prop includes Christian Walker (+400) and Daulton Varsho (+500).
