There’s no doubt that Mike Yastrzemski has been struggling in his first season with the Braves without a home run in his first 17 games of the season.

We think that changes tonight as the Braves host the Marlins at Truist Park. Chris Paddack gets the start for Miami who has also been struggling as well this season with a 6.14 ERA and giving up three home runs total in his first three starts.

Sure, none of those three have come against left handed hitters but last season among the 31 total home runs he gave up, 18 of them came against left handed hitters.

All time head-to-head against Paddack, Yastrzemski is 9-23 with three doubles and three home runs and 15 of his 17 home runs last season coming against right handed pitching while slugging .446 compared to slugging just .223 against left handed pitching.

Although the Braves outfielder has struggled this season, he is riding a modest three game hitting streak into this game which should give him some confidence going into tonight’s game.

It’s also worth noting that of Paddack’s 31 home runs he gave up last season, 22 of them came in road games as well.

We’re going to keep the theme going of struggling hitters on new teams as we’ll take Marcell Ozuna to hit his first home run as a member of the Pirates tonight.

The Pirates DH is off to a rough start with just five hits in 47 at-bats but gets a nice matchup as Pittsburgh takes on Washington sending Jake Irvin to the mound.

Irvin gave up a MLB high 38 home runs last season and is off to a similar start this season giving up three in his first three starts this season.

He has allowed righties to bat .316 against him this season to go along with a .474 slugging percentage with Ozuna going 4-14 with a double and a home run off Irvin all-time.

Keep in mind that Ozuna averaged 30 home runs per season across his last four as a member of the Braves so the fact we get near +600 odds for a Ozuna to hit a home run off the league leader in home runs allowed last season is somewhat of a bargain.

With Ozuna only four home runs away from 300 in his career and three hits across his last two games, let’s look for him to parlay that into a home run tonight at +590 odds at home against the Nationals.
