Valdez is one the MLBs best groundball pitchers and he’ll be anxious to get back on track after a brutal outing against the Minnesota Twins.
Valdez was lights out in the two prior starts to open the season and he dominated the Royals lineup twice last season while pitching a full 8 innings twice and allowing only 1 & 2 earned runs.
Current Royals are batting a combined .157 against Valdez with only 2 home runs across a solid sample size of 95 plate appearances.
Witt Jr went a combined 1-8 (.125) without an extra-base hit in those two head-to-head meeting against Valdez last season.
Comerica Park is a pitcher’s stadium, and the Royals lineup has already struggled as they rank 27th with an OPS of .655.
