Cameron is a great pitcher with great stats against these Cardinal batters. The Royals bats are flaccid and both teams are in a flat spot here.

STL Cardinals at Kansas City Royals — June 18, 2026

Model Verdict

Projected first five innings: Kansas City 2.2, St. Louis 1.7

Kansas City receives a small home-field advantage, but the mandatory return-home flat-spot deduction keeps the Royals’ projection from reaching the market-implied level. Noah Cameron’s favorable matchup history against the projected St. Louis lineup drives the first-five under. Matthew Liberatore’s recent road performance, home-run susceptibility and short June outings prevent a stronger Kansas City team-total under position.

Kauffman Stadium’s remodeled outfield dimensions have reduced some of the park’s previous home-run suppression, although the overall run environment remains close to neutral. The modest crosswind and warm temperature create only a small positive scoring adjustment.

Kansas City returns home following a three-game road series in Washington. A 0.15-run return-home flat-spot deduction is included. St. Louis travels after a home day game, producing only a minimal travel adjustment. No recent doubleheader penalty is applied.

St. Louis has produced approximately 4.53 runs per game with an overall OPS near .719. Kansas City has produced approximately 4.01 runs per game with an overall OPS around .691–.701. St. Louis owns the more favorable season and recent profile against left-handed pitching, while Kansas City has remained below average against lefties.

St. Louis has recently generated roughly 5.4 runs per game with a .781 OPS over a 15-game sample. Kansas City has averaged approximately 4.6 runs with a .732 OPS over its latest ten-game sample. Recent Kansas City production receives weight, but the absence of Vinnie Pasquantino and Jonathan India lowers the projected lineup’s ceiling.

Starting Pitcher Analysis

Matthew Liberatore enters with a 4.71 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 65 strikeouts over 70 2/3 innings. June production has been weaker: 8 2/3 innings, seven earned runs, four walks and eight strikeouts. Recent road performance has also been vulnerable, with a 5.18 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over the relevant road-start sample.

Liberatore’s current underlying profile includes approximately 8.28 strikeouts, 3.44 walks and 1.78 home runs per nine innings, accompanied by a 4.98 FIP and elevated hard-contact indicators. Kansas City’s struggles against left-handed pitching offset part of that weakness.

Noah Cameron enters with a 4.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 64 strikeouts over 70 innings. June performance has been much stronger, with five earned runs over 17 1/3 innings. Cameron’s latest seven-start stretch produced a 3.05 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 36 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings.

Cameron’s three recent starts against St. Louis combined for 18 1/3 innings, nine hits, four earned runs, two walks and ten strikeouts. The expected St. Louis hitters own approximately 38 prior at-bats against Cameron with a collective OPS near .384. The sample remains limited, but the quality-of-contact and command results support a meaningful first-five adjustment.
