THE PLAY: Miami Marlins -112 Sandy Alcantara (RHP), Adrian Houser (RHP) Must Start
Miami opened the season 5–1, then hit a 1–7 skid before stabilizing by winning three of its last four games heading into a six-game West Coast swing. Sitting at 12–13, this is a classic spot I like to target: a team starting a road trip, usually locked in to set the tone early, with the added mental boost of being one win away from getting back to .500.
San Francisco just came out of a high-energy series with the Dodgers, which makes this a natural letdown spot as they turn around to face Miami. Offensively, the Giants have been sputtering, scoring three runs or fewer in nine of their last eleven games.
Sandy Alcantara makes his sixth start of the year for the Marlins. He’s turned in three gems, one clunker, and one mediocre outing.
The Giants counter with Adrian Houser, who has been a mess lately, giving up 12 runs over his last 16 innings with a shaky 7–6 K/BB ratio across his last three starts. Between the scheduling spot (Giants off the Dodgers), their scoring struggles, and Miami’s opportunity to reset this trip with Alcantara on the mound, I’m siding with the Marlins. Historically, when Alcantara has gone off as a road favorite, his teams are 13–3 in those starts.

Marco is a 2 Time winner of Preferred Picks Wise Guy Football Contest. Marco's signature play is his College Football Game of the Year, as Marco has gone 26-8 with this game over his 34-year career.
Marco has been featured as a guest handicapper on several radio shows as he has been on ESPN regional and national shows, Yahoo Sports Radio, Sports Overnight America, as well as appearing on shows covering regional teams in both College and Pro sports. Marco was co-host of a successful Las Vegas Show for several years. Marco is also the go-to guy for Horse Racing information from media outlets.
