THE PLAY: Utah Tech +17.0 (-110)

This is an absurd number I think this is as far as it's going to go I have to punch back. Looks like we are staying up late to see if this is a winning day or not.

This number is what it is for a couple clear reasons which I don't think are as impactful as the market is making it seem with this drastic move.

Hawaii is the host but that is priced in and it has been all week. This will be Game 3 of 3 for both teams. I'm giving as little “home court” to Hawaii as I have all tournament.
Utah Tech went to 2OT with Mississippi Valley State. That's certainly not good but Utah Tech still came away with the win. Jusaun Holt and Dario Domingos didn't play but both are role players and maybe Holt decides to go here.
Utah Tech has guys out. Yes, this is true but it's also been the case all season for the Trailblazers. Utah Tech hasn't had Marvel Allen yet this year and it's been priced in since Opening Night. Utah Tech didn't have Madiba Owona on opening night either and managed to go on the road and beat South Dakota.

I think the books are underestimating a couple things here. First, Utah Tech has now played six games, they have been shorthanded in all of them and they managed a true road win and were respectable against Arizona and Arizona State. Second, Hawaii will be playing their third game in three days too. Hawaii has had a much easier time with back to back 30 point wins but they still had to play those games. In my opinion this is the best opponent Hawaii will see here and it's on the last day when the 'Bows have been softened up a bit. Winning the game is one thing (Hawaii probably will) but doing it by 20 is a much greater feat.

The market says Utah Tech rolls over here. I disagree as I've watched a bunch of this Utah Tech team and think the Trailblazers are underrated. Assuming same lineups as yesteday I have this Utah Tech +12.5 with all the known intangibles factored in. Had to grab it once it hit +17.
