(309) Toledo at (310) Sacramento St: Spread
7:00pm EST - Nov 4/2026

THE PLAY: Toledo -25.5 (-108)

Toledo enters Wednesday night's matchup with a clear advantage in offensive efficiency, quarterback production, and defensive performance against a Sacramento State team that has struggled to stay competitive all season. The Rockets are 6-2 and rank tenth nationally in yards per game at 475.5, while Sacramento State is just 2-7 despite facing one of the nation's weakest schedules. Toledo's offense is particularly dangerous through the air, averaging 8.7 yards per pass attempt and generating 0.39 passing points per play, with an impressive 48.0% passing success rate. That production creates a significant mismatch against a Sacramento State defense allowing 7.6 yards per pass attempt, 0.26 passing points per play, and a 1.65 passing explosiveness rating. Toledo quarterback John Alan Richter is coming off an outstanding performance against Western Michigan, completing 29 of 41 passes for 391 yards and three touchdowns while leading an offense that totaled 595 yards and 32 first downs. The Rockets also possess a reliable ground attack, highlighted by CJ Miller's 183 rushing yards against Western Michigan, providing the offensive balance necessary to exploit Sacramento State's defensive vulnerabilities.

The Hornets have been among the nation's least efficient offensive teams, producing a 37.9% overall success rate, ranking in the bottom 15 nationally, while averaging just 2.66 points per scoring opportunity. Sacramento State's passing attack has been particularly ineffective, generating essentially zero passing points per play with a 35.8% success rate and only 5.6 yards per attempt, ranking near the bottom nationally in all three categories. Toledo's defense presents a difficult matchup for that struggling offense, allowing just a 32.9% overall success rate and an exceptionally low 28.6% rushing success rate, ranking among the nation's best in both categories. The Rockets have also limited opposing quarterbacks to a 54.0% completion rate and 6.0 yards per attempt, making sustained scoring drives particularly difficult for a Sacramento State offense that has exceeded 17 points only twice this season. Toledo has scored at least 34 points in all six victories and has converted an impressive 94.1% of its red-zone opportunities, demonstrating its ability to turn offensive possessions into points. Sacramento State's 31-10 victory over Kent State does little to change the underlying matchup, as the Hornets managed just 278 total yards and committed ten penalties for 89 yards against another struggling opponent.

My technical database further supports Toledo:

• Play On: Double-digit MAC favorites playing on days other than Saturday are 111-89 ATS (55.5%) since 2000, generating +13.1 units and a +6.0% ROI;

• Play On: Teams with at least seven days of rest, coming off games in which they attempted 13 or fewer third downs against opponents penalized at least seven times, are 450-368 ATS (55.0%) since 2015, generating +45.2 units and a +5.0% ROI;

• Play On: Double-digit conference road favorites in their fifth game or later, facing opponents coming off victories who missed the previous season's playoffs, are 168-127 ATS (56.9%) since 2009, generating +28.3 units and a +8.7% ROI.

Toledo's offensive efficiency, explosive passing attack, and outstanding defensive success-rate metrics create an excellent opportunity to overwhelm a Sacramento State team that has struggled against considerably weaker competition. The Rockets should control the line of scrimmage, generate consistent scoring opportunities, and limit a one-dimensional Hornets offense that has rarely sustained drives. Take the Toledo Rockets as Jeff Keim's Free Pick Winner for Wednesday, November 4.

(19) Minnesota Wild at (20) Philadelphia Flyers: Moneyline
7:07pm EST - Nov 3/2026

THE PLAY: Minnesota Wild -173

Minnesota enters Tuesday night's matchup against Philadelphia with a substantial advantage in offensive production, defensive efficiency, and goaltending, making the Wild an attractive road favorite against a Flyers team that has lost 12 of its first 16 games. The Wild are 10-3-3 and have earned points in four of their last five games, including an impressive 5-1 victory over Washington on Sunday that featured goals from five different players and points from 12 skaters. Minnesota's balanced offense is averaging 3.25 goals per game compared with Philadelphia's 2.19, giving the Wild an advantage of more than one goal per contest. The disparity is even more pronounced defensively, as Minnesota ranks third in the NHL in goals allowed (2.25 per game), while Philadelphia is surrendering 3.31 goals per contest. The Wild are also generating approximately 30.8 shots on goal per game while allowing just 25.3, compared with a Philadelphia team producing only 23.3 shots while surrendering nearly 30 per contest. Minnesota's superior puck possession and shot generation are supported by its ability to create high-danger opportunities, with the Wild averaging approximately 9.1 high-danger shots per game compared with Philadelphia's 5.9.

The special-teams matchup gives Minnesota another meaningful advantage, with a 26.8% power-play conversion rate compared with Philadelphia's disappointing 15.7% efficiency. Kirill Kaprizov continues to drive Minnesota's offense, while Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek provide additional scoring threats who can exploit a Flyers defense that has struggled to suppress quality opportunities. Minnesota also possesses a significant advantage in goal, where Jesper Wallstedt has posted a 1.99 goals-against average and .922 save percentage while limiting opponents to one goal in three of his last four appearances. Philadelphia's goaltending has been considerably less reliable, with Dan Vladar posting a 3.26 goals-against average and .888 save percentage, while Joseph Woll has recorded a 3.13 GAA and .899 save percentage. Although Travis Konecny's return helped Philadelphia defeat Utah 6-3 on Sunday, that performance reflected the Flyers' highest offensive output of the season rather than sustained improvement. The Wild have lost just once by multiple goals this season and are 6-1-2 since October 13, demonstrating the defensive consistency and competitive resilience necessary to succeed away from home. With Minnesota holding substantial advantages in scoring differential, shot quality, special teams, and goaltending, the Wild possess the superior statistical profile and should be able to control this matchup against an inconsistent Philadelphia team.

My technical database provides additional support for Minnesota:

• Play On: Road favorites of -120 to -209 seeking revenge for a previous home loss against the same opponent are 718-423 (62.9%) since 2002, generating +111.7 units and a +6.8% ROI;

• Play On: Road favorites of -107 to -174 coming off exactly one win vs. opponents entering off a game as underdogs, provided the opponent is not on an extended losing streak, are 475-281 (62.8%) since 2003, generating +102.0 units and a +10.1% ROI;

• Play On: Road favorites of -175 or less coming off a win, following a loss in their preceding game, and averaging more shots on goal than their opponent are 608-404 (60.1%) since 2005, generating +71.4 units and a +5.3% ROI;

• Play On: Road favorites of -140 or greater vs. opponents coming off a win are 844-466 (64.4%) since 2005.

Minnesota's substantial advantages in offensive production, defensive structure, and goaltending create an excellent opportunity to exploit a Philadelphia team that has struggled to generate consistent scoring chances throughout the season. Take the Minnesota Wild as Jeff Keim's Free Pick Winner for Tuesday, November 3.

(303) Ohio at (304) Akron: Spread
7:00pm EST - Nov 3/2026

THE PLAY: Ohio -13.5 (-115)

Ohio enters Tuesday night's MAC showdown with a significant statistical advantage over an Akron team that has struggled on both sides of the ball all season. The Bobcats are 6-2, while Akron is 1-7, and underlying efficiency numbers suggest the disparity between the two programs is even greater than their records indicate. Ohio's offense owns a 47.0% success rate, ranking in the 69th percentile nationally, compared with Akron's 42.3% success rate and 39.0% passing success rate. The Bobcats have been particularly effective at sustaining drives, averaging 3.92 points per opportunity, while Akron generates just 3.58 points per opportunity despite facing a relatively manageable schedule. Ohio's defense should also create considerable problems for the Zips, allowing opponents to produce just 0.21 passing points per play and a 41.8% passing success rate. Akron's passing attack has been especially inefficient, averaging only 0.10 passing points per play while completing 63.7% of its passes for a modest 6.7 yards per attempt.

The biggest matchup advantage is Akron's inability to protect the football: the Zips have committed 16 turnovers, including 11 interceptions, while Ohio has surrendered only ten turnovers through eight games. Akron's offensive line has also allowed 22 sacks, creating additional opportunities for an Ohio defense that has recorded 16 sacks and limited opposing quarterbacks to just eight touchdown passes. The Bobcats should find opportunities through the air against an Akron defense surrendering 0.39 passing points per play, ranking near the bottom nationally, while allowing an alarming 1.81 passing explosiveness rating. Ohio's 45.0% passing success rate and 0.23 passing points per play provide a strong foundation to exploit those deficiencies, particularly against an Akron secondary that has already surrendered 18 touchdown passes. Akron has also been substantially less competitive than its already disappointing record suggests, with just 1.9 deserved wins compared with Ohio's 5.1, despite both teams facing schedules ranking among the easiest nationally. Although Ohio's 6-2 record includes some favorable close-game results, the Bobcats' advantages in offensive efficiency, ball security, and defensive performance provide a compelling foundation for backing the road favorite.

My technical database provides additional support for Ohio:

• Play On: Double-digit MAC favorites playing on days other than Saturday are 111-89 ATS (55.5%) since 2000, generating +13.1 units and a +6.0% ROI;

• Play On: Ohio in conference games is 30-19 ATS (61.2%) since 2020, generating +9.1 units and a +16.9% ROI;

• Play On: Double-digit road favorites with six to nine days of rest facing opponents with six to nine days of rest are 687-556 ATS (55.3%) since 2009, generating +75.4 units and a +5.5% ROI;

• Play On: Road favorites of -6.5 to -19 points that won at least three games the previous season, coming off a game as favorites against opponents that missed the previous season's playoffs, are 694-583 ATS (54.3%) since 2013, generating +52.7 units and a +3.8% ROI.

Ohio's substantial advantages in rushing production, offensive efficiency, and defensive consistency create an excellent opportunity to exploit an Akron team that has struggled against the run and ranks near the bottom nationally in scoring defense. Take the Ohio Bobcats as Jeff Keim's Free Pick Winner for Tuesday, November 3.
