THE PLAY: Jake Ferguson Receptions Over 2.5 (-115)
It's National Tight End Day/Week, so we absolutely have to show Jake Ferguson some love! And this isn't just about celebrating the tight ends. I really like the matchup against Philadelphia, especially when we're only asking Ferguson to catch three passes to cash this ticket.
The Eagles have been vulnerable to opposing tight ends this season, allowing an average of 4.8 receptions per game to the position. That's a very encouraging number when our line is sitting at just 2.5 catches. We don't need Ferguson to have a monster receiving performance. We simply need him to get involved in the passing game.
Philadelphia did a better job against tight ends last week, allowing just two receptions, but that performance was the exception rather than the rule. Opposing tight ends had cleared this number in each of the previous four games against the Eagles. One good defensive performance doesn't erase a trend that's been working against Philadelphia for most of the season.
What makes this matchup even more attractive is Ferguson's history against the Eagles. He's cleared 2.5 receptions in each of his last six games against Philadelphia. That's a tremendous track record against a familiar division opponent, and it gives me even more confidence that Dallas will find ways to get him involved.
I also like the simplicity of this number. We're not asking Ferguson to score a touchdown or rack up significant receiving yardage. Three catches is all we need, and with Philadelphia allowing nearly five receptions per game to tight ends, there's a very realistic path to getting there.
And of course, we can't forget about National Tight End Day! What better way to celebrate than backing a tight end who's consistently produced against this opponent? Ferguson has the matchup, the head-to-head history, and a very manageable reception total.
