THE PLAY: Seattle Kraken 145
SEATTLE KRAKEN +145 vs. VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
I’m taking the Seattle Kraken +145 tonight. At this price, I believe we’re getting significant value on a Seattle team that has already shown it can play with — and beat — Vegas.
The Kraken are coming off an impressive 6-1 demolition of Calgary, with Seattle scoring three times in the opening 7:40 and getting 32 saves from Joey Daccord. That win came immediately after a 3-1 loss in Edmonton, showing the Kraken can bounce back quickly.
The early-season numbers strongly support Seattle. The Kraken are averaging 4.33 goals per game while allowing only 1.67, compared with Vegas at 3.67 goals scored and 2.67 allowed. Seattle also has a major goaltending edge if Joey Daccord gets the start — he has stopped 96.6% of the shots he's faced through two starts.
Home ice is another important factor. Seattle went 19-17-5 at home last season, while Vegas lost 22 of its 41 road games. One independent betting model makes this game essentially 50/50, yet the market is pricing Seattle around just 38% to win at +150. That creates a significant value gap.
I also like the recent head-to-head history. Seattle won three of the four meetings against Vegas last season, including both games played in Seattle. The Kraken have clearly shown they can match up with the Golden Knights.
Vegas is coming off a hard-fought 3-2 win over Vancouver, while Seattle enters this game with tremendous momentum following the 6-1 victory. The Kraken are getting strong production from their young forwards, while their defensive game and goaltending have been excellent to start the season.
At +145, we don't need Seattle to be the better team by a huge margin — we simply need them to win this game more than 40% of the time to make the price worthwhile. Given the home ice, early-season offensive production, Daccord's outstanding start and Seattle's recent success against Vegas, I believe they have a legitimate chance to win outright.
