Reports of the Yankees' demise were greatly exaggerated. This is still the best team in the American League (who's better?) as they've outscored the opposition this season by a whopping 140 runs. They've won eight of nine overall, not to mention eight straight in Houston after taking last night's series opener by a score of 7-1.

The Astros have NOT been playing well. I think they're in grave danger of missing the playoffs. Did you watch last night's game? There were three different instances where an Astros' hitter failed to execute a bunt. Truth be told, I don't even know why they were trying to bunt in any of those situations. Perhaps it was because this lineup has topped four runs only once in the last nine games.

The Yankees are starting Will Warren tonight. He's off B2B subpar outings, but all four runs allowed last time out were unearned. This season, Warren has allowed 2 ER or fewer 19 times, the most by any Yanks' rookie since 1968! He shouldn't have much difficulty with the scuffling 'Stros. Meanwhile, a Yankees lineup that leads all of baseball with an average of 5.26 runs per game should have better luck against Jason Alexander than they did when they first faced him back on 8/10.
