THE PLAY: Las Vegas Raiders +3.5 (-108)
I made this number closer to +2, so fine taking the Raiders down to +3 for the second game of tonight's MNF doubleheader. The Silver & Black looked good in Week 1, outgaining the Patriots by 1.4 yards per play and ending up with a 20-13 win and cover. They did so despite losing TE Brock Bowers (5 catches for 103 yards) to a knee injury in the 4Q. QB Geno Smith is a significant upgrade over what the Raiders had at the position last season and passed for 363 yards in the opener.
This is NOT the same Raiders team that the Chargers swept last season. In addition to bringing in Smith as the new QB1, there's been a coaching upgrade in Vegas with Pete Carroll replacing the overmatched Antonio Pierce. Everyone seems to be impressed with what the Chargers did to the Chiefs down in Brazil. But maybe that 27-21 upset (Chargers were 3-point underdogs) is more about the current state of the Chiefs. Take the points.
