THE PLAY: F5 Kansas City Royals -0.5 (-105) Jack Perkins (LHP) Must Start
Kansas City Royals -0.5 First 5 Innings (-110) over Athletics
This is a great spot to attack Athletics starter Jack Perkins, who has been getting crushed lately. Over his last 30.2 innings, Perkins has allowed 32 earned runs, and his season ERA has ballooned to 7.27. His last two starts haven't shown any improvement either, allowing seven runs in five innings against Tampa Bay and five runs in three innings against Boston. (TheSpread.com)
Those pitching problems have translated directly to first-five struggles for the Athletics. They've been outscored 20-5 through the first five innings over their last three games, and they're just 1-4 against the first-five run line in their last five road games. That's exactly what we're looking to attack with Kansas City only needing to be ahead after five.
The Royals will counter with Daniel Lynch IV in what should essentially be a bullpen-style approach. Lynch hasn't been quite as sharp in his last couple of appearances, but the overall numbers remain excellent with a 2.88 ERA on the season. (ESPN Australia) Kansas City is also coming off a 9-5 win over the Athletics in the series opener, with the offense collecting 13 hits. (Royals Review)
Kansas City has been much more reliable early at home, going 6-4 against the first-five run line over its last 10 home games. We don't need to worry about what happens with the bullpens late—we're simply asking the Royals to take advantage of a struggling Perkins and hold a lead through five innings.
With Perkins getting hammered, Oakland struggling early on the road, and Lynch owning the much stronger season-long numbers, Kansas City Royals -0.5 First 5 Innings (-110) is the play.

Consultant Bio
Andy Lang embarked on his illustrious professional gambling journey in the early 2010s, leveraging his exceptional expertise in GOLF, NASCAR, and MMA. Prior to joining WagerTalk in 2019, Lang established himself as a respected figure in the industry through the creation of the highly regarded podcast "Bump And Run Sports." At WagerTalk, Lang's remarkable knowledge of Auto Racing, Golf, and MMA has brought profitability in every season, and with meticulous precision, Lang also specializes in Team and Player Props across a multitude of sports where his commitment to transparency and engagement with the audience shines. As a testament to his impact, Lang founded the highly successful show "Prop It Up," captivating viewers with a compelling fusion of expertise and entertainment, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the industry.
Lang has always had a passion for player props and has helped bring them from fringe bets to main card wagers on WagerTalk. He finished as the #1 NBA Player Prop Handicapper for the 2022 regular season and is #1 on NHL Player Props since joining the company. He excels at props across all sports, including NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, Golf, NASCAR, Formula 1, Tennis, and more.
Lang has set a personal goal for his own bankroll that he has deemed “The Road To Millions,” and it is based on constant units being added and letting compound interest do the rest. For example, if you were to start with $1,000 and add just 3% to your bankroll every week and not pull any money out, you would have over $1,000,000.00 after just five years. The consistent increases in the bankroll combined with discipline and not pulling money out until the ultimate goal is reached is what Lang is working towards.
