Brazil vs Serbia Betting Analysis
There are two schools of thought when it comes to analyzing your first opponent in the group stage. Entering the 2022 World Cup, teams that win their opening group stage match advance to the knockout round 84-percent of the time. That’s a huge number, so obviously you want to get off to a winning start.
But if you’re placed in a group with the prohibitive tournament favorite, there’s another school of thought that says you want to play them first. Perhaps they aren’t at full strength. Perhaps they haven’t had time to gel. Opening round upsets by Saudi Arabia over Argentina and Japan over Germany give credence to this school of thought.
Serbian Scoring Threat
Serbia has proven they can go toe-to-toe with some impressive rosters as they finished ahead of Portugal in their qualifying group, forcing Portugal to a playoff just to be able to get here. They also easily won their Nations League group over Sweden, Norway and Slovenia, which puts them in League A against the big boys for the next go-around.
While those results are impressive, Serbia kept just two clean sheets in their Nations League group, while both matches against Portugal in qualifying went over the total, with both teams scoring as well.
The Serbian attacking trio is one of the most dangerous collection of forwards of any team in the tournament with Mitrovic, Vlahovic and Jovic. Their midfield is also very good with Filip Kostic and Dusan Tadic.
Brazil vs Serbia Prediction
Brazil is another animal when it comes to their ability to possess the ball and score goals. Serbia simply will not be able to keep Brazil from scoring most likely multiple goals. In Brazil’s last seven matches, they’ve scored 5, 3, 1, 5, 4, 4 and 4 goals.
When all is said and done, Brazil may be able to clear this total by themselves, but Serbia is a tough team to keep off the scoreboard and that’s why I expect to see some goals in this match. Take the over, which is widely available at 2.5 or 2.75 goals at the time of posting.
