Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview

Huge London derby on Saturday in one of the biggest games of the weekend as the Gunners travel over to West London to take on a steadily improving Chelsea side.

For all of their issues both this season and last for Chelsea, and there have been many, the Blues looked to have finally turned a corner of late, registering three straight victories on the bounce for the first time since March as they look to move into the top half of the table.

That previous three-game win streak for Chelsea earlier this year culminated in an abysmal nine-game winless streak immediately after, losing seven of those nine games outright as well, so Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt hope things are different this time around and that they can continue their solid recent form.

They face an Arsenal side in this one however who are coming off their biggest win not just of this season, but in a number of seasons, as they finally unseated champions Manchester City in a league game for the first time since 2015.

However, that massive win for Arsenal, combined with the fact that the Gunners need a win in Spain on Tuesday evening against Sevilla after losing outright to Lens in the Champions League last time out, likely means Arsenal’s attention will be divided heading into this one.

Especially against a foe in Chelsea who they’ve already beaten on four straight occasions, shutting them out in two of those four matchups as well.

Chelsea have the building blocks of a potential winning season right now, generating over half of their season-long points tally across just their last two starts, and will be eager not to let that momentum slip against a distracted cross-town rival on Saturday.

As good as Arsenal have been this season, and they’ve been excellent, this isn’t a particularly great spot for them on Saturday, and we’re going to take a piece of the more motivated home side in this one catching a head start to potentially pull the upset this weekend.

Premier League Prediction 1: Chelsea +0.25 (-120)

Aston Villa vs West Ham | October 22 | 11:30am ET

Aston Villa -105 | West Ham +270 | Draw +280

Aston Villa vs West Ham Preview

Two teams who have enjoyed red-hot starts to the season this year, West Ham and Aston Villa respectively, will clash this Sunday over at Villa Park with both looking to continue their current momentum.

For Aston Villa, it’s been an absolutely perfect start to the season at Villa Park, registering three wins from three and owning the league’s best goal differential as well (a massive +11 on the season so far with both Manchester City and Liverpool sitting at +7 for a comparison).

That’s a trend that has continued for Villa going back to last season also, with the Villains ranking 3rd in the league on home form since January 1st as Unai Emery continues to work his magic for the West Midlands club.

West Ham meanwhile have also seen a major shift since last season, fighting relegation this time six months ago, the Hammers have since started out this season in much better form, taking four points from both Brighton and Newcastle combined this season, as well as owning a 2-0 start to their Europa League campaign also.

While we’re in no rush to back against Aston Villa this season given what they’ve accomplished at home, the fact is two of those three wins for Villa came against Crystal Palace and Everton, and West Ham should provide much more of a robust challenge for Aston Villa defensively in this one, as well as the ability to cause them problems at the other end.

West Ham also got the victory in Villa Park last season as well, albeit one taking place under former manager Steven Gerrard, but that was their third straight victory against the Villains in this venue, with Aston Villa not having beaten West Ham at home since 2015.

With all that said, it’s simply too dangerous to step in front of Aston Villa at home given how they’re playing, but it likely will be close with West Ham having the ability to frustrate them here.

Premier League Prediction 2: Aston Villa to Win by Exactly 1 Goal (+240)

Tottenham vs Fulham | October 23 | 3:00pm ET

Tottenham -195 | Fulham +500 | Draw +365

Tottenham vs Fulham Preview

Monday night sees another London derby take place as Fulham travels over to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in order to try and unseat the surprising early-season league leaders, and also put some distance between themselves and the chasing relegation pack, a feat that may be easier said than done given Tottenham’s current form.

Spurs have been absolutely electric to start this season under new manager Ange Postecoglou who has brought a sense of freedom and confident attacking play to the North Londoners, something he achieved at his former club Celtic up in Scotland as well.

After his first game in charge of the club back in August, a 2-2 draw against fellow London side Brentford, Tottenham have been almost perfect in the league, with their only blemish being a 2-2 draw away to an excellent Arsenal side.

For Fulham, it’s been a much different story this season, with the Cottagers struggling to maintain the momentum they built up last year with the loss of former top goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer to the Saudi league.

That loss has been mitigated somewhat by Fulham outperforming their metrics so far this season, with the Cottagers ranking 7th in offensive scoring this year, yet 4th from bottom in offensive xG, meaning things are likely to get even worse for Fulham moving forward should that regression finally kick in.

Fulham knocked Tottenham out of the League Cup back in August, but this is a far different proposition on Monday with both sides being at 100%, especially with the impact James Maddison has had at the club since signing in the summer and Tottenham failing to score at least 2 goals just once all season, this game looks like a bridge too far for Fulham in Matchday 9 against a rampant Spurs side.

Even at the current high line of -1.25, it’s simply Tottenham or pass in this one.

Premier League Prediction 3: Tottenham -1.25 (+105)
