Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames Betting Analysis
Both Calgary and Winnipeg enter into Tuesday night’s game coming off recent two-game winning streaks respectively, but only one of them will get the chance to continue that run in this one.
The Winnipeg Jets saw out two solid wins against the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks over recent games, with a solid contribution from one of the best goalies in the league this season in Connor Hellebuyck.
Calgary meanwhile were forced to hang on in both of their recent matchups against Vancouver and Seattle respectively, giving up a comfortable 3-0 lead last time out against the Canucks in what ended up being a tight finish in their game over the weekend.
The two teams faced each other once already this season, with the Flames coming out with a 3-2 win at home against the Jets. Winnipeg however have had the better of recent meetings in this venue, winning four of their last five games against the Flames in Manitoba.
Calgary Not Clinical Enough In Attack
Despite ranking as a top-ten team in the league this season in high-danger scoring opportunities, along with 3rd on total amount of shots per game also, the Calgary Flames haven’t been anywhere near as clinical in finishing those chances as they would have liked this year.
That’s because the Flames own an incredibly low 8.76% shot conversion percentage this season, the 4th worst mark in the entire league, along with a sub-20% power play conversion percentage also.
Hellebuyck’s Form Is Key To Winnipeg’s Success
It’s debatable that there isn’t a single player more important to a team’s overall chances of success this season than the role Connor Hellebuyck has played with the Winnipeg Jets this year.
The Michigan native has posted a red-hot 20.27 GSAA average this season along with having the league’s highest number of quality starts as well, and all this despite Winnipeg ranking 23rd in the league on defensive xGA this year.
Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames Prediction
We believe Winnipeg is the value side in this one, especially given the current odds listing them as home underdogs for tonight’s matchup.
Winnipeg have one of the league’s strongest home ice advantages, winning 17 of their last 23 games in this venue, and face a Calgary team later tonight who have looked anything but composed over recent games.
