Vancouver Canucks vs Florida Panthers Betting Analysis
It’s been three straight losses now for the Florida Panthers heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Vancouver Canucks, and last season’s President’s Trophy winners will look to stop that trajectory here looking to secure only their fifth road win of the season so far.
Vancouver for their part have won three of their last four games outright and are finally gaining ground in the Pacific Division after a terrible start to the season which saw them lose all of their opening seven games.
The two teams faced off against each other twice last season with Florida winning both meetings by a combined 7-3 scoreline.
Defense Has Been A Problem For Florida Of Late
While losing six of your last seven games is never an ideal scenario in which to be in, what’s made that fact even worse for the Panthers here has been their defense, which started that recent seven-game run giving up six goals against the Dallas Stars back on November 17th, and six more goals in their most recent loss against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday as well.
With the Panthers losing four of their last five games when following a blowout loss of three or more goals in their last game, they’ll need to find a defensive remedy quickly for their woes if they expect to come out of Thursday’s game against the Canucks with a win.
Vancouver’s Data Remains Sub-Par This Season
While the Vancouver Canucks have enjoyed a mini-renaissance in the league since mid-November, winning five of their last seven games overall, their underlying data still remains extremely concerning for this team moving forward.
Vancouver ranks 27th in the league on defensive xGA this season, 28th on opponent high-danger scoring opportunity rate, and is allowing a double-digit conversion percentage on those high-danger scoring opportunities to opponents this year also.

We’re going to take a shot with the underdog Vancouver Canucks tonight at home to win outright against the struggling Florida Panthers.
Despite our concerns on Vancouver’s long-term data this season, Florida have managed to cough up early leads in four of their last five starts overall, and we have no inclination to back them here, especially as prohibitive favorites, until we see them gain a level of confidence back and show they can protect leads in games.
The home team has won four of the last five meetings between these two teams and we’re happy to side with that continuing in this one, so take the Vancouver Canucks +120 to win outright at home against the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
