Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis
The Los Angeles Kings play host to the Edmonton Oilers for Game 3 of their first round playoff series. The Oilers doubled up the Kings 4-2 in Game 2 to even up the series. They were the hottest team toward the end of the regular season, winning their last 9 games.
The Kings had won three in a row before losing Game 2 but have won 12 of their last 16 home games. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Kings Come Home
After scoring four goals in Game 1, the Los Angeles Kings only managed two goals in their Game 2 loss. Phillip Danault and Gabriel Vilardi each scored a goal.
However Los Angeles was outshot 37-24 and they were 0-4 on the power play. Pheonix Copley (24-6-3 2.64 GAA) may get the start in net, he gave up four goals on 23 shots in his last start.
Joonas Korpisalo gave up three goals in each of the first two games of this series. On the season, the Kings are averaging 3.34 goals per game and giving up an average of 3.10 goals per game.
The Kings sport a regular season record of 26-11-4 at home this season but have lost 6 of their last 8 home games against the Oilers.
Oilers Even Things Up
After dropping Game One 4-3 the Edmonton Oilers bounced back with a 4-2 victory of their own. They were up 2-0 after the first period before giving up two in the second period and then scoring two in the third. Four different Oilers lit the lamp including Leon Draisaitl, who also had two assists.
Connor McDavid led the NHL in goals and points and got himself an assist in Game 2. He is overdue for a goal after not scoring in four straight games. Stuart Skinner (29-14-5 2.75 GAA) stopped 22 of 24 shots in Game One and 31 of 35 shots in Game 2.
Skinner looks like he will be in between the pipes again tonight but if he does not Jack Campbell (21-9-4 3.41 GAA) will get the nod. The Oilers went 27-11-3 on the road this season and have won 19 of their last 26 road games.
Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers Expert Prediction
The Edmonton Oilers enter this contest as -150 money line favorites with a total set at 6.5. Each team has secured a victory, so this game is going to be critical.
The Kings have the ability to retain home ice advantage but they have their hands full. The Kings have done a great job in 5-5’s and Anze Kopitar and Phillipp Danualt have done a solid job slowing McDavid and Draisaitl.
However Edmonton is 50% on the power play this season and the Kings will find it more and more difficult to avoid penalties. Skinner has been solid in net but I could also see some improvements out him. I think it’s worth the juice to be Edmonton on the money line.
