Hurricanes vs Panthers Analysis

The Carolina Hurricanes face the Florida Panthers tonight for the third time this season and will be eager to return to Raleigh after going just 1-3 over their recent road trip which started up in Canada.

The Panthers meanwhile haven’t played in over two weeks and will be looking to notch their fifth win in just six games against the Hurricanes on Wednesday.

The Panthers are 2-0 against the Hurricanes so far this season.

Panthers in Good Spirits

With the Florida Panthers not having any game time since February 1st, they’ll be eager to finally get back to competitive action here tonight against Carolina.

Quotes coming out of the Panthers locker room this week have hinted at a ton of excitement for the 2nd half of the season, and with the Panther’s owning the league’s #1 scoring record this year, putting up a pretty phenomenal 4.09 gpg on average this season, it’s easy to see why.

Carolina Looking Forward to Returning Home

The Carolina Hurricanes will be looking forward to returning home later tonight as they haven’t particularly enjoyed recent road trips.

A 1-3 record over the last four games has been matched by a poor 4-5 road record going back to December 12th as well.

However, at home it’s been a different story this season with Carolina ranking as one of the best home teams all year with a 16-4-1 record in Raleigh.

Hurricanes vs Panthers Prediction

Both Sergei Bobrovsky and Frederik Andersen are expected in nets tonight for the Panthers and Hurricanes respectively and both men have been excellent all season.

Both goalies are in double digit averages this season in terms of overall GSAA average and Andersen ranks No. 3 in the league overall this year with only Shesterkin of the Rangers and Saros of the Predators putting up better overall numbers than him this season.

On top of that, Carolina has one of the best defenses in the league this year, ranking No. 1 on total opponent goals allowed at just 2.37 gapg with the xG data telling a similar story this season also, with the Hurricanes ranking #3 on the year in total expected goals against this season.

With Florida having so much time off ahead of this one, despite their electric offense, we believe this one stays under the total on Wednesday.
