Calgary Flames vs Philadelphia Flyers Betting Analysis
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to reverse a four-game losing streak on Monday as they travel north to the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Calgary Flames.
The Flames for their part have been extremely patchy this season, failing to put more than a three-game winning streak together all year, but did snap a recent two-game losing run at home against the New York Rangers on Saturday in what was one of their best performances of the season so far.
This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season after Calgary took game one in a 5-2 win in Philadelphia back in November. Things haven’t got much easier for the Flyers north of the border either, with the Flames winning six of the last seven meetings in this venue over recent seasons.
Defensive Nightmare For Flyers Of Late
Giving up 12 goals across your opening two games of a current road trip is hardly the best preparation for a visit up to Calgary, and Philadelphia will need to find a way to limit those chances at the back if they’re going to have any shot at a victory in this one.
A 6-2 loss against Vancouver last time out was somewhat misleading however as the Flyers were competitive in that game, but it still doesn’t hide the fact that Philadelphia ranks 29th in the league this season on opponent high-danger scoring chances allowed.
Calgary Can Punish Those Defensive Issues Of The Flyers
Only one team ranks above Calgary this season in terms of total offensive shots per game, the Florida Panthers, so the Flames definitely have the ability to punish those defensive errors of the Flyers in this one should they be on form.
However, that remains to be seen as Calgary have been extremely hot/cold this season and while they are creating a ton of chances, they haven’t been converting them, ranking 30th in the league overall in shot conversion percentage this season, only marginally ahead of Columbus and Anaheim.

While Calgary have shown inconsistencies over the season as a whole, they do have the talent to overcome that, and with the number of chances they’re creating offensively on a game-to-game basis this season, it’s only a matter of time before the Flames get red-hot in front of goals.
That could well be tonight as Philadelphia have started their road trip off in some dreadful form defensively and have gone just 15-39 across their last 54 road games as well.
Take the Calgary Flames to win this one in regulation at home on Monday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
