Utah Jazz vs Los Angeles Clippers Predictions

  • Utah Jazz -8.5 vs Los Angeles Clippers
  • Total: 216.5 Points
  • The Jazz have won seven games in a row, covering the point spread in five of those.

Two scorching hot teams will collide in Utah when the 16-12 Los Angeles Clippers step into Vivant Smart Home Arena to square off with the 19-7 Jazz. The Clippers won their fifth straight game on Monday, by a score of 111-95 over the Phoenix Suns. The Jazz are even hotter, winners of seven straight games after defeating Washington on Saturday 123-98.

This will be the first meeting between these teams since their epic second round clash in last years post-season. The Clippers emerged victorious despite being underdogs, as they will be once again on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Clippers shot 55.1% from the field while holding the Phoenix Suns to 37.5% shooting on their way to a 111-95 victory. The Clippers have won five straight, despite being without Paul George who leads the team in scoring, rebounding and assists. Paul George will once again be questionable with an elbow contusion and will more likely than not miss another game.

If George is out, Reggie Jackson will run the Clips offense once again and his performance will be crucial to come out on top against a team the caliber of Utah. Nicolas Batum will also be out with injury in this contest. The Clippers are 19th in points scored with just over 106 points a game. But have performed far better defensively as they allow only 104.3 points a game good for 5th in the association.

The Utah Jazz turned in a true team effort as 6 players scored double digits en route to a 123-98 victory over the Washington Wizards. The Jazz own the leagues longest current winning streak at 7 games and continue to be one of the best two-way teams in the league. Donovan Mitchell leads the team in scoring with 24.8 points a game. Rudy Gobert is having a monster season, averaging 15.1 points and 14.6 rebounds per game while shooting a ridiculous 73.4% from the floor.

The Jazz stack up with any team in the league statically speaking. Utah is first in points scored with 115.3 a game and fourth in points allowed with 104.2 a game. They are first in shooting with 48.1% field goal percentage and 3rd in rebounding with 46.7 per contest. Ultimately the Jazz are primed for a deep playoff run and they are having great fortune as all of their key players remain healthy.

The Utah Jazz are currently home favorites of 8.5 points with a total set at 216.5. The Jazz are 15-11 against the spread on the season, while the Clippers are 13-15. Both teams are around .500 ATS to the over/under. Both teams are red hot, but only one can keep the winning streak alive.

The Jazz are the far superior shooting team and the injuries are mounting for the Clippers. Utah has one best home court advantages in the game, as they are 9-4 at home including wins in their last 3 games. Without George I don’t think the Clippers can keep up with the Jazz on the road The Jazz will be out for revenge after being knocked out of the playoffs by the Clippers. Give me the Jazz -8.5 as my official play here.

Official Play: Utah Jazz -8.5

Utah Jazz vs Los Angeles Clippers Analysis from The GoldSheet

Utah has tuned up the piano and the horns and begun to play some hot Jazz lately, winning seven in a row, covering the point spread in five of those and going 5-1-1 over the totals in a run that’s seen Quin Snyder’s band leading the league in offensive efficiency by a mile in that span.

The last time these two saw each other, LA was recording a 131-109 win for its 4th straight series win to escort Utah out of the playoffs with a 4-2 Conference Semifinal victory, so Utah could be looking for a little payback. The Clippers haven’t been healthy all season, and F Paul George is iffy again with an elbow sprain that’s sidelined him for a week, and Nicolas Batum, one of the team’s best defenders and all-around Swiss army knives, is also questionable with an ankle sprain that’s kept him out of 10 of the Clips’ last 11 games. Tough to ask LA to hang tough in the altitude without George ready to go, as Jazz will control boards and tempo. Play Utah.
