New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks Analysis
The Hawks and their depleted squad are somehow coming off a win against Philadelphia who was at mostly full strength, and will be playing the Knicks who have lost six out of eight games. They should have the advantage with healthy players, but the problem is the Knicks healthy players have not been delivering.
The Knicks have won only three games in December against San Antonio, Housing and Detroit, and last nights game sums up their recent downturn. Kemba Walker has a huge 44 point game, Randle and Burks each get over 20 and then nobody else scored over 8 points. Their opponent, the Wizards, had a balanced attack as six players had fourteen points or more, the Knicks failed on the defensive end again and the result was a 7 point loss.
If Fournier isn’t hitting threes, he’s a big liability as he’s bad on defense and Randle has regressed from last years form. They’re just a team that’s tough to wager on to win games right now.
The Hawks lost to Orlando with their depleted squad, and then shockingly turned around to beat the 76ers. I won’t be paying attention to ATS or total trends with them as I only have a two game sample size, but I did notice that Cam Reddish was a ball hog against Orlando, but they had a much more balanced attack against Philly and that certainly helped get them the win.
I won’t be picking a team to win outright, but I am feeling good about this under. The Hawks have gone way under the last two games, and I would expect it again. They scored 98 points in each game, I would expect a similar output in this game.
Without Kemba’s huge game, the Knicks struggled to score points against Washington, and that has been a theme for them. Atlanta has played good defense the last two nights, I will ride with them to slow the pace way down and keep this total under the total.
