Expert NBA Props for Tuesday: Luka Doncic Los Angeles Lakers OVER 8.5 Assists (-132)

The Brooklyn Nets defense focuses on shutting down elite point guards and forcing them into passing situations as they allow the 2nd fewest points (behind only OKC) while allowing the 10th most assists (9.3/game).

The Nets also allow the 5th most assists in the restricted area where Doncic logs 47% of his dimes meaning Deandre Ayton should feast in this game.

We just watched Cade Cunningham beat a 9.5 assist line against Brooklyn with 12 dimes on February 1st. When facing bottom 10 teams in assists allowed, Doncic averages 10.5 assists on over 15 potential assists per game.

The Lakers are -7.5-point road favorites so there is potential for a blowout, but Doncic has covered this line in 6/8 double digit victories (7 other two games) with Lebron James on the court.

Expert NBA Props for Tuesday: Brandin Podziemski Golden State Warriors OVER 4.5 Assists (-110)

Brandin Podziemski has stepped up as a facilitator since Jimmy Butler went down with a torn ACL and now Steph Curry has also been ruled out.

Without those two players, Podziemski sees a 5.9% increase in usage rate and 6.4% increase in assist rate.

The Philadelphia 76ers have allowed the 7th most assists overall including the 6th most to opposing shooting guards with 5.5 per game.

The Sixers also rank 29th in assists allowed at the rim where Podziemski registers 27% of his assists. Podziemski has covered this line in 8/11 games against teams ranked bottom 10 in assists allowed (avg 6.5/game) when playing 23+ minutes per game.

The Warriors are -3-point home favorites which tells us that Joel Embiid will be sitting considering this is the second leg of a back-to-back.

That will open up the paint even more than usual and the Dubs will need full minutes from “Podz” in what should be a very close game.
