NBA Player Props Best Bet #1: Tre Johnson (WSH) Over 17.5 Points (-105)

Wizards point guard Tre Johnson has averaged 19.5 points per game across his last four as Washington welcomes in a Bucks team that has given up the most points per game to point guards across the last 15 days.

We’re going to take Johnson to go over 17.5 points scored tonight with leading scorer Alex Sarr heading in questionable with an illness.

If Sarr is out or limited in any fashion it will open up more scoring opportunities against a Bucks team that sits bottom five in defensive rating across their last five games.

It is worth noting though that the Bucks sit top five in fewest points in the paint given up per game this season though with Johnson scoring a majority of his points from the perimeter.

The Bucks have also given up the most three-point makes to point guards across the last 15 days as well with Johnson shooting 44% from three-point range across his last for games.

In five games without Sarr should he not play, Johnson is averaging 54% shooting from the field and although it’s only on seven field goal attempts per game Johnson has been shooting much more lately averaging 12.2 shot attempts per game in January.

With the Wizards snapping their nine-game losing streak last time out, we should see a somewhat looser Wizards squad as a whole tonight with the Bucks dealing with trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo. Take Johnson to be a primary or secondary scorer for Washington tonight going over 17.5 points.

NBA Player Props Best Bet #2: Michael Porter Jr. (BKN) Over 25.5 Points (-105)

Former Nugget Michael Porter Jr. will play in Denver for the first time since being traded this past offseason as the Nets and Nuggets go head-to-head tonight.

Although these two have faced off in Brooklyn once this season, Porter Jr. will now have a chance to show Denver fans that trade was a mistake.

The Nets forward scored 27 points in their meeting on January 4th on 8-17 from the field as we’ll take him to go over 25.5 points in Denver tonight.

Aside from a hiccup against the Clippers in LA two games ago, Porter Jr. has been scoring relatively efficiently averaging 45% shooting from the field on 19 shot attempts per game in January.

He scored 36 of the Nets’ 102 points in a four-point loss at Phoenix last time out as the team will play without all of Cam Thomas, Egor Demin, Noah Clowney and Zaire Williams tonight which combined they score roughly 48 points per game.

Porter Jr. will have to make up for at least some of that scoring himself with Denver giving up the ninth most points per game to opposing small forwards across the last 15 days. 

In a revenge spot against his former team on the road let’s take Porter Jr. to be the top (and possibly only) scoring threat for the Nets going over 25.5 points against a Nuggets team sitting bottom ten in defensive efficiency on the season.
