Minnesota Timberwolves vs Utah Jazz Predictions

Utah continues their four game east road trip at Minnesota and they are winners of five out six with the lone loss being a strange loss at home to the Pelicans. The Timberwolves have lost three straight, and even though Minnesota and Towns and Edwards might be one of the most fun teams in the league to watch, that doesn’t help us make money. We can’t pay bills with entertainment, so let’s see if there’s a betting angle in this game.

Both teams offer no trends on ATS full season or recently, so I’m ignoring that. These two teams are top half in the NBA in scoring, and the Jazz are the second-highest scoring team in the league, and in games that they win outright they’ve scored 107 or more in all of them. They’ve also scored 127 or more in three out of their last four games, so their offense has been firing on all cylinders and in all four of those games Donavan Mitchell has been their leading scorer.

Minnesota has let a couple of guards score on them recently including Trae Young who went for 29 last game against them. Combine that with Minnesota being 4th worst in the NBA defending centers, we might be looking at big games from Mitchell and Gobert.

The Jazz are 8-2 to the over in their last ten games and they’re 3-0 to the over in their last three away games and Timberwolves have had four out of their last six games go over this total. Utah is bottom half in defending guards, and despite them having Gobert inside, they still give up 21.6 points a game to centers. This number sits at 219 right now, and I’m certainly not playing any unders with these two teams, so I’ll play the over in this one.

Official Play: OVER 219

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Utah Jazz Analysis from The GoldSheet

Oddly, Minnesota has won and covered the last 3 in this series, and almost as oddly, this series has gone under the total 6 of the last 7. Utah playing well, winning 8 of last 10 for Quin Snyder, but not covering a lot of numbers, dropping 5 of last 7 against the spread, while going over the total in 8 of its last 9, scoring 121 points per 100 possessions. The Jazz have scored 119 ppg and shot 50% as a team in their last 9, led by Donovan Mitchell’s 24 ppg and 6 others scoring double-digits. Would favor Minnesota if D’Angelo Russell (ankle) were probable, but Timberwolves’ HC Chris Finch felt Russell was probably not going to play. Some good news for Minny is that defensive specialist and trash-talking expert Patrick Beverley should be good to go.
