Milwaukee Bucks vs Brooklyn Nets Analysis

The Brooklyn Nets will wrap up a short two game road trip at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks have opened the season 2-0 with wins on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers and at home against the Houston Rockets.

The Nets record fell to 1-2 after losing a shootout 134-124 to the Memphis Grizzlies. This will be the first of four head-to-head games in the season series that Milwaukee won 3-1 last season. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST as this will be a the front end of an ESPN doubleheader.

Bucks Start 2-0

The Milwaukee Bucks scored at will in a 125-105 victory at home against the Houston Rockets. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 44 points on an insane 17 of 21 from the field with 12 rebounds.

Point guard Jrue Holiday had a double-double with a game-high 10 assists to go along with 19 points and 5 rebounds. The Bucks should be well rested as they haven’t played since Saturday.

Milwaukee went 0-5 in the pre-season but are now 2-0 to open the regular. Their defense has been stellar as they are #1 in scoring defense with only 96.5 points allowed per game. Offensively they have been somewhat challenged as they currently rank 24th with only 107.5 points a game.

Young Pacers Squad Gets A For Effort

The Brooklyn Nets put up a valiant effort against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night but ultimately lost 134-124 in a shootout. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving each scored 37 points on a combined 28 for 44 from the field. Irving also led the team in rebounds with 8 boards.

The only other Net to score double digits was Nic Claxton, who scored 16. Brooklyn is now 1-2 on the season with their lone victory coming against the Toronto Raptors. They currently rank slightly below average offensively at 16th with 113.7 points a game.

On defense they have been a turnstile with 123 points allowed per game, ranking them 27th in the NBA. Seth Curry and Markieff Morris are both out for this contest as well.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction

The Milwaukee Bucks are 4 point home favorites with a high total set at 231.5. This sets up to be a high scoring contest between two of the contenders in the Eastern Conference.

One player who won’t be contributing to that is the recently acquired Ben Simmons. Simmons has fallen short of his 8.5 point total with 7, 6 & 4 points for an average of 5.7 per game. Simmons is averaging only 28 minutes a game, is only 3 for 7 from the charity stripe and 0 for 1 from beyond the arc.

Simmons has acted as more of a facilitator and rebounder than scorer. Considering he doesn’t hit threes or free-throws with any type of consistency, he will need 5 field goals to surpass this total.

This will be challenging, considering he has only 7 made field goals across his first three games. Let’s continue to fade Simmons as a scorer and cash another under on his points.
