Memphis Grizzlies vs Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis
The Phoenix Suns travel to Memphis for a Western Conference clash against the Grizzlies on MLK Day. The Grizzlies won their 9th straight game 130-112 on the road against the Indiana Pacers. The Suns lost their second straight game 121-116 in Minnesota against the Timberwolves on Friday night.
This is the second game of a four game regular season series where they have split the first two games. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM EST/3:00 PST from FedEx Forum.
Memphis Moves To Nine Straight Wins
The Memphis Grizzlies improved to 29-13 after winning their 9th straight game on Saturday in Indiana. The Grizzlies had a massive advantage in points in the paint at 70-46. Desmond Bane led all scorers with 25 points along with 8 rebounds.
Ja Morant recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 assists while Santi Aldama chipped in with 17 points off the bench. Memphis currently sits only a half game behind the Denver Nuggets for the #1 seed in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies rank 6th in scoring 117.1 points per game on 47.2% from the field. Memphis has moved up to #1 in defensive rating and 10th in defensive scoring with only 111.8 allowed per game. Ja Morant is questionable for this contest due to hip soreness, as is John Konchar with an illness.
Suns Set On Stopping Skid
The Phoenix Suns record dipped to 21-23 on the season after losing 8th game in 9 tries in Minnesota on Friday. The Suns were outscored 64-46 in the paint. Damion Lee scored a game high 31 points off the bench.
Mikal Bridges added 24 points while De’Andre Ayton recorded an 11 point, 11 rebound double-double. The loss to Minnesota makes Phoenix a dreadful 7-16 on the road this season.
The Suns rank below average in scoring with an average of 112.7 points a game on 46.4% from the floor. Phoenix sits at 12th in defensive rating and 9th in defensive scoring with an average of 111.6 points allowed per game.
Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Cameron Payne and Cameron Johnson remain out with injuries while Landry Shamet is questionable with a hip injury.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
The Memphis Grizzlies are heavy road favorites with a spread of 10.5 and a total set at 228. Both teams were considered to be contenders for the Western Conference crown and while Memphis has lived up to expectations, Phoenix has unraveled due to injuries.
Unfortunately we don’t have any Grizzlies player props available due to the uncertainty surrounding Ja Morant. I’m looking towards De’Andre Ayton and his rebounds line set at 9.5. Ayton has cleared this line in four straight games with 11, 11, 14 & 18 rebounds.
He has seen consistent 30+ minute games as Phoenix needs every bit of production they can get. Memphis actually ranks highly at rebounds allowed to opposing centers but Ayton did grab 10 boards in his last contest against the Grizzlies on December 27th.
The Grizzlies will be taking plenty of shots and Steven Adams will keep Ayton in the paint where he can collect plenty of rebounds. Let’s go over on Aytons rebounds tonight in Memphis.
