Los Angeles Clippers vs Philadelphia 76ers Analysis
Joel Embiiid and the Philidelphia 76ers are looking for their second win in Los Angeles in the last two days. This time, however, they take on Reggie Jackson and the struggling Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clippers took care of the 76ers in their first matchup in January, but this was before James Harden was on Philly.
For the second and final matchup between these two teams this season, The 76ers are 5.5 point favorites and the total is set at 219 points.
Clippers Going Cold
At the moment the Clippers are the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, but they are seven games behind the Nuggets for the No. 6 seed.
With just eight games remaining, it’s very unlikely that the Clippers make the playoffs outright – they seem to be destined for the play-in tournament.
The Clippers have chosen a bad time to go cold since they could have made up some ground in the standings. Instead, Los Angeles has lost four straight and are just 3-7 in their last 10 games.
Over this span, the Clippers allowed opponents to average 113.3 points per game and they only averaged 106.7. Los Angeles is 20-15 this season when playing at the Crypto.com Arena and they are 5-5 against the spread as a home underdog.
“Going, Going Back, Back to Cali, Cali”
One of the many strengths of the Sixers this season is their ability to win games away from home. The 76ers are 24-11 away from the Well Fargo Center.
However, as a road favorite, the 76ers are just 10-9 against the spread. Philly took on the Lakers in Los Angeles two nights ago, so there will be no travel fatigue in play for this east coast bunch.
Philly is 6-4 in their last 10 games and they are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are just 1.5 games behind the Miami Heat for the No. 1 seed and are just a half-game behind the Bucks for the No. 2 seed.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction
This is a matchup of strength against strength. The 76ers are one of the better road teams in the NBA while the Clippers play their best basketball on their home floor. With that being said, I think the 76ers cover the 5.5 point spread.
The 76ers need every win they can get to potentially take the No. 1 seed in the East. The Clippers are dragging to the finish line and will almost certainly be participants in the play-in tournament. Take the better team with more to play for tonight.
Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -5.5
