Hornets vs Raptors Prop Betting Analysis
The Raptors have won five in a row including a 125-114 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks in their last game. The Charlotte Hornets have been the complete opposite of late. They have lost four in a row, including a 104-86 home loss to the Miami Heat in their last game.
The Raptors prevailed in the lone head-to-head meeting 125-113, despite Fred VanVleet not playing in the contest. Gary Trent Jr was the game’s leading scorer with 32 points, while Lamelo Ball paced the Hornets with 25 points of his own. Pascal Siakim fell one rebound short of a triple double with 24 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds.
Raptors Running Wild
The Toronto Raptors are currently on a five-game winning streak where they have scored 120 points or more in three of the five games. However, two of those games did include overtime.
The Raptors play solid defense where they only allow 106.9 points a game which ranks 9th in the NBA. They are a slightly below average offense, on the season they rank 18th with 108.2 points scored per game. Toronto prefers a methodical offense that ranks 26th in pace of play.
Fred VanVleet is the team’s leading scorer with 21.6 points per game, while Pascal Siakim isn’t very far behind with 21.4 points a game. VanVleet leads the team in assists with 7.2 dimes per game, while Siakim leads the team in boards with 8.6 a game. Siakim has led the team in scoring over their past two games, while Gary Trent Jr led the way in the prior 5 with over 30 points in each game.
Hornets Look to Snap Four-Game Skid
The Charlotte Hornets are now only two games above .500 at 28-26 after losing four in row and six of their last eiht games. During the four-game losing streak they have struggled offensively, only scoring 86, 101, 107 and 90. This is surprising, based on the fact that they are tied with the Utah Jazz for most points per game at 113.6. The Hornets play at the second-fastest pace in the league behind only the Houston Rockets.
Charlotte struggles on defense, where they allow the 3rd most points with 114.2 per game. Miles Bridges is the teams leading scorer with 19.7 a game, Lamelo Ball is right behind him with 19.6 points per game. Ball also leads the team in dishes with 7.5 a game, while Mason Plumlee leads the team in rebounds with 7.7 per game. Terry Rozier has been the teams leading scorer in each of their last two games.
Hornets vs Raptors Prediction
We are going to attack this game from a player prop perspective. However, we can still get still find an edge based on the spread and total. The Raptors are 2-point favorite with a total of 224. A close, high-scoring game is projected, which makes it great for overs considering players should get their full minutes late in a high scoring game.
Both teams do a great job shutting down opposing point guards, so Ball and VanVleet may neutralize each other. The Hornets really struggle with opposing big men. They allow the second most points (25.77) and most rebounds (17.83) to rival centers. Pascal Siakim is so athletic in the five spot it seems like a nightmare scenario for the Hornets. Siakim already carved them up for 24 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds in their only head-to-head meeting. Siakim has a Point + Rebounds + Assists total of 36.5 for this contest. He has eclipsed this number in five of his last eight games, while landing on 34 & 35 in two of the games he fell short. The Raptors have been using a short rotation, resulting in starters like Siakim playing around 40 minutes a game. Siakim will have every opportunity to clear his PRA total in what should be close high scoring affair.
