Expert NBA Player Props for Thursday: Jimmy Butler, Warriors OVER 6.5 Assists (-105)

Jimmy Butler recorded 7 of his 8 assists in Game 1 after Steph Curry exited the game as the Golden State Warriors game plan was clear, get Jimmy Buckets the ball and let him facilitate.

Butler led all Warriors in usage in the 2nd half with a ridiculous 30.6% usage rate. He also struggled to get anything going offensively when defended by Julius Randle, shooting 1/6 in their head-to-head minutes.

I would fully expect Chris Finch to throw double teams and traps at Butler to force the ball out of his hands. Butler has played 64 minutes without Curry in this postseason run and he averaged 8.4 assists per game with a 7.2% usage rate bump.

Curry being out really hurts Draymond Green’s ability to facilitate as it takes away the pick & roll and his assists go down by 2.7 per 36 minutes. Butler has logged 7+ dimes in three straight games and there is a ton of additional upside without Curry in the mix.
