New York Yankees vs Houston Astros Analysis

The Houston Astros will play the second of four games against the New York Yankees from the Bronx. The Yankees erased a three run deficit with four runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 7-6 on an Aaron Judge base knock.

Astros ace Justin Verlander will look to turn the tide, while New York hopes Luis Severino can help continue their dominance. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM EST/4:10 PST.

Astros Look For Bounce Back

The Houston Astros have won six of their last eight, despite blowing a 6-3 lead and losing 7-6 last night. Starting pitcher Framber Valdez threw six innings of three run baseball against the games top offense, only to watch the bullpen let it slip away.

Closer Ryan Pressly was lit up for 4 earned runs in only one-third of an inning. Leadoff man Jose Altuve went 3 for 4 with two doubles and power bat Yordan Alvarez hit his 22nd home run of the season.

The Astros offense isn’t quite as highly ranked as one would think. They score 4.32 runs a game while ranking 18th in batting average and 14th in on-base percentage.

The 39 year-old ace Justin Verlander has been great on the season, with an 8-3 record and 2.30 ERA. However, he is coming off his worst outing of the season as he allowed seven runs on nine hits in only 3.2 innings against the Chicago White Sox.

New York State of Mind

Another day, another New York Yankees victory. The Bronx Bombers picked up the slack on a poor outing by Jameson Taillon to storm back for a victory. Taillon allowed six runs on 10 hits in only 5.2 innings.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 15th home run of the season and Aaron Judge had a game winning hit, going 2 for 5 on the night. We could go over individual categories but the Yankees are top five if not #1 in any offensive category imaginable.

They are a staggering 52-18 record and have a double digit game lead on any team in the American League East. The 28 year-old Luis Severino will toe the rubber for the pinstripes. He is 4-1 with a 3.27 ERA and 1.06 WHIP on the season. He is coming off a bad outing where he allowed five earned runs in only five innings.

New York Yankees vs Houston Astros Prediction

The New York Yankees are slightly favored at -130 on the money line, while the Houston Astros sit at +110 with a total of 7.5. This is a very evenly matched game as are a lot of the games on today’s slate.

I mentioned a while back that it’s at the point where you see a reasonably priced Yankees money line you need to take it. We have went 3-0 on Yankee money lines since then. I’m going to keep it simple and roll with New York on the -130 money line.

Prediction: New York Yankees Moneyline -130
