Mariners vs Rangers Expert Predictions and Advice
This will be the second series between these division rivals in the 2023 campaign, the Rangers won two of three games in Seattle in early May.
The Mariners dominated the 2022 season series 13-6, going 7-2 at home and 6-4 at Globe Life Field. Texas is kicking off a six-game homestand after finishing 6-3 on their road trip.
Seattle is beginning an eight-game road trip after wrapping up a 7-3 homestand. Both teams start right-handed pitchers in games 1 & 3 and southpaws in Game 2.
The Rangers lineup has a tremendous advantage in this series while Seattle has the superior bullpen. The Rangers have crushed left-handed pitching, they rank top three in almost any offensive category on the season and over the last 30 days.
Game 2 starter Marco Gonzales is a vulnerable southpaw with an ERA north of 5.00. He has been putting far too many batters on base and Texas will make him pay.
Seager and Lowe don’t have the best track records against him but I’m still confident taking an over the Rangers team total for the first five innings of the second game. There are many starters I can think of who have been more consistent than Nathan Eovaldi during the 2023 campaign.
The Mariners lineup is well below average against right-handed pitching and Eovaldi will make quick work of them. Let’s keep the Texas pen out of it and make a play on the Seattle team total under for the first five innings of Game 3.
