Guardians vs Giants Analysis

The San Francisco Giants travel cross country to Cleveland for an interleague series with the Guardians. The Guardians have won four straight games after losing their first two to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Giants are also 4-2 after prevailing in two of three games in each of their three-game series to open the season.

The Newly acquired south paw Carlos Rodon takes the mound for San Francisco, while Cleveland calls on the young right-hander Zach Plesac. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 EST.

Cleveland Will Be Rocking

The Cleveland Guardians take a four game win streak into their home opener against the San Francisco Giants. Approximately 20 minutes later, their NBA equivalent the Cleveland Cavaliers will welcome the Atlanta Hawks to town for an elimination play-in game.

The Guardians entered the season with a whimper but have quickly moved on to a bang. In the first two games of the season they only scored one run, both games were obviously losses.

Between back half of the four game set with Kansas City and the two game sweep of Cincinnati they won four games with a staggering 44 combined runs.

They scored double digits in three of those games and won their latest game 7-3. Jose Ramirez and Owen Miller each had three hits including a home runs and leadoff man Myles Straw had four hits. Sophomore starter Tristan McKenzie threw four shutout innings with six strikeouts while allowing only three hits and no walks.

Zach Plesac gets the nod for the Guardians after tossing 5.2 shutout innings in his first start of the season. Plesac hasn’t been great in interleague play as he is 1-3 with a 3.76 ERA in seven career starts, he has yet to face San Francisco.

Giant Steps Foward

The San Francisco Giants had a great 2021 season and were able to win the division over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants look to build on that with some new pieces including tonight’s starter Carlos Rodon. They stand at 4-2 after winning each of their three game series 2-1. They edged out the San Diego Padres 2-1 in their most recent game on Wednesday.

Logan Webb was electric, pitching eight strong innings while only allowing one run, four hits & no walks and striking out seven. Luke Williams drove in both runs with a double. The Giants turn to south paw Carlos Rodon to continue the win streak.

He only allowed one run in five innings while fanning 12 hitters in his first start. He is facing a familiar opponent who he has 20 starts against in his time with the Chicago White Sox. Rodon went 7-5:with a 2.90 ERA in those starts against Cleveland.

Guardians vs Giants Prediction

The San Francisco Giants are road favorites at -150 with the Cleveland Guardians at +130 and a total of 8. While the Guardians are out to an impressive start but could see some regression in their future against last seasons top regular season team.

You can’t expect Owen Miller and Steven Kwan to keep hitting at their torrid paces. The Cleveland hitters are familiar with Rodon but he has owned them.

Holding them the only .091 batting average and. 330 OPS in 74 at bats with only one home run. Its more juice that I’m normally comfortable with so let’s split the bet between the money line and run line at +105.

Prediction: San Francisco Giants -144 and -1.5 -130 (split the bet between the two to make your own -1 line)
