NRFI Best Bet Today #1: Baltimore Orioles vs Athletics (+110)
Athletics starter JP Sears has 12 starts under his belt this season and has allowed opponents scoreless in the first inning in all 12 of those starts despite his 5.05 ERA.
Tonight he gets an Orioles team that has failed to score in the first inning in 74% of games which ranks bottom ten in MLB.
While the Orioles have been red hot as of late, it hasn’t been because of their offense averaging just 3.5 runs per game during their current run.
Dean Kremer starts for Baltimore who hasn’t allowed a first inning run in seven of 12 starts on the season which includes not allowing one in four straight.
The Athletics offense finally came alive last night scoring 14 runs against the Twins, but that snapped a nine-game losing streak in which they only averaged three runs per game in their previous four games before last night.
Although Kremer’s ERA sits at 4.70, he had a 2.72 ERA in six May stats which includes allowing just one earned run across his last two starts (11.1 IP).
We get solid odds for a NRFI to occur in tonight’s Orioles vs Athletics matchup at +110 with first pitch at 10:05PM ET.
NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Atlanta Braves vs San Francisco Giants (-130)
We’re going to the last game on the board for our second NRFI play tonight as the Giants host the Braves at Oracle Park.
Spencer Schwellenbach starts for Atlanta holding opponents scoreless in the first inning in nine of 12 starts this season and the Giants not scoring in 80% of home games in the first inning which ranks fourth worst in the MLB.
It’s also worth noting the Giants as a team rank bottom ten in team batting average and slugging percentage heading into this one.
Hayden Birdsong gets the nod for the Giants sporting a 1.29 home ERA and although most of his appearances have come as a reliever this season, he hasn’t allowed a run in the first inning in any of his three starts this season.
The bats were out in Atlanta yesterday as the Braves put up ten runs but in the four games before that they averaged just 2.5 runs per game.
Atlanta hasn’t scored in the first inning in three straight games so let’s play on a Braves vs Giants NRFI to occur tonight with first pitch slated for 10:15PM ET and odds listed at -130.
