Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe looks to continue his four-game hitting streak as the Pirates and Reds battle in Cincinnati. Lowe sits at 22 home runs for the season with half of those coming in road games.
We’ll take him to hit his home run prop tonight with the Reds sending righty Rhett Lowder to the mound. He has allowed nine home runs in total this season with five of them coming at home.
He has struggled against left handed hitters like Lowe this season allowing eight of his nine home runs while posting a .473 slugging percentage against compared to right handed hitters posting a .352 slugging percentage against.
In his one start against Pittsburgh this season he didn’t allow a home run but he was atrocious allowing eight earned runs in just 1.1 innings pitched.
Over the last week Lowe has posted a .429 batting average and .714 slugging percentage so let’s take him at +300 to hit a home run tonight. Other Pirates batters to consider for a home run prop includes Esmerlyn Valdez (+390) and Ryan O’Hearn (+500).
MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #2: Manny Machado (SD) +350
The Giants and Padres open a four-game set in San Diego tonight with lefty Robbie Ray taking the mound for San Francisco. All-time Manny Machado is 6-22 with three of those hits being home runs.
We’ll take Machado to cash his home run prop tonight with Ray giving up 10 of his 15 home runs this season on the road. Only four of Machado’s 23 home runs have come against lefties but he is slugging .444 against them compared to a .438 slugging percentage against righties this season.
Machado has had more power as of late though batting .312 and slugging .602 over the last 30 days including eight of his 23 total home runs.
Machado sits just eight home runs away from 400 for his career and although Ray hasn’t allowed a home run in three straight starts, two of those were at home and he has allowed 14 of his 15 home runs to right handed hitters this season.
Take Machado at +350 to hit a home run with other Padres to look at for a home run includes Fernando Tatis Jr. (+390) and Ty France (+560).
