Angels vs Yankees Prediction and Betting Preview | Tuesday May 27

Two lefty starters will take the mound in Tuesday’s Angels vs Yankees contest, and these lineups are polar opposites when it comes to hitting against lefties. After struggling against Ryan Yarbrough on Monday, we’re not expecting the Angels to enjoy much success against Carlos Rodon in the second game of this series.

New York Yankees
The Yankees captured Game 1 of this series with a 5-1 win on Monday. Yarbrough allowed one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in 6.0 innings before the bullpen closed the door in the final frames. Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger combined to go 3-for-5 with three walks and three runs scored.
The Yankees are hitting .281 (No. 1 in MLB) with a .369 on-base percentage (No. 1) and a 150 wRC+ (No. 1) against left-hand pitching this season.
Carlos Rodón is 6-3 this season with a 2.88 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 11 starts. In his last outing against the Rangers, he held Texas scoreless with just two hits and eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
Los Angeles Angels
We just laid out how well the Yankees are hitting against left-hand pitching this season. Well, the opposite is true in Anaheim. The Angels are hitting .208 (No. 28) with a .247 on-base percentage (last) and a 75 wRC+ (No. 24) against lefties.
Angels’ starter Tyler Anderson has been the subject of some loud trade rumors, and those rumors may have become a distraction for the veteran lefty. Anderson is coming off a rough start where he didn’t register a single strikeout against the Athletics while walking six in 4.2 innings. Over his last three starts, he’s allowed 12 runs in 14.2 innings with nine strikeouts and eight walks.

Angels vs Yankees Prediction
Ironically, these teams met in Anaheim with Anderson on the mound nearly one year ago (May 29). In that start, the Yankees generated six walks against Anderson in 5.0 innings. Based on Anderson’s location struggles in his last start against the Athletics, a patient approach at the plate is likely going to generate success for the Bronx Bombers once again.
New York Yankees -1.5 RunLine (-120)
Tyler Anderson (LAA) Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-110)
