North Carolina vs Minnesota Prediction and Picks {Football Best Bet 9-16-23}

Week 3 College Football Player Props Prediction 1: Athan Kaliakmanis, Minnesota Over ~184.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Minnesota QB Athan Kaliakmanis could be forced to throw more than he’s used to when the Golden Gopheers head to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina.

His passing prop number is currently listed at 184.5 with the Tar Heels giving up 314 passing yards per game to the opposition through two games.

They seem to be following suit from last season in which they gave up an ACC worst 276 passing yards per game with Kaliakmanis only throwing for 117 yards last week against Eastern Michigan, but that was likely due to the team rushing the ball 56 times for 296 yards in what turned out to be a second half rout of the Eagles.

That won’t happen this week at North Carolina as the Tar Heels will be much better competition for the Golden Gophers. Kaliakmanis surpassed this number in Week 1 vs Nebraska throwing for 296 yards with 44 pass attempts compared to just 25 rushing attempts.

We see a Minnesota offense similar to the one they played against Nebraska than Eastern Michigan in this week’s game so take the Minnesota sophomore QB to go over his 184.5 passing yard number in Week 3.

Week 2 College Football Player Props Prediction 2: Graham Mertz, Florida Over ~212.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Graham Mertz and the Gators could find themselves in a shootout this Saturday with Tennessee coming to town.

The Volunteers are coming off a game against FCS Austin Peay in which they allowed starting QB Mike DiLiello to throw for 260 yards with Mertz throwing for 333 yards in their Week 1 loss to Utah.

Last week against FCS McNeese Cowboys Mertz completed 82% of passes for 193 yards but he wasn’t needed much with the Florida rolling 49-7.

Tennessee was second to last in the SEC last season in passing yards allowed with 287 so Mertz should have no problem going over the 212.5 mark listed for Saturday’s showdown with Tennessee.
