Sunny Edwards vs Andres Campos Betting Analysis

This Saturday night over in London, England live on DAZN, current IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards defends his belt against unbeaten Chilean fighter Andres Campos in an interesting matchup over in the English capital this weekend.

Sunny Edwards comes off the back of two wide decision victories last year against two solid fighters in Muhammad Waseem and Felix Alvarado respectively, and will be looking to put on that same sort of clinic this weekend in his Matchroom/DAZN debut.

Can Campos Pull Upset?

His opponent Andres Campos has been a little more active than Edward’s in recent months, fighting four times since the start of last year, but faces a monumental step up in competition this Saturday against the current IBF champion.

In what has fast become one of the hottest property divisions in all of boxing, Sunny Edwards is right in the mix at flyweight, aiming for unification bouts against each of the other champions, namely the WBC’s Julio Cesar Martinez, the WBA’s Artem Dalakian, and perhaps the best of them all, the WBO’s Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

Those would all present extremely interesting matchups from a style perspective as each fighter brings something completely different to the table, but before talks of unification fights can begin, Sunny Edwards first needs to take care of a potential banana skin this weekend in Andres Campos.

Edwards Has Huge Edge Defensively

Campos isn’t known as a particularly big puncher in fights, owning a relatively low 26.7% KO percentage over his career to date. However, he has stopped two of his last four opponents, both inside the first six rounds in Javier Martinez and Dario Ruben Ruiz respectively.

The Javier Martinez stoppage in particular shows he definitely does carry pop in there, stopping Martinez with a crunching left hook to the body midway through the 4th round of that fight, so Edwards does need to be careful in this one.

That said, Sunny Edwards is arguably the most complete defensive fighter in boxing today, pulling off moves that honestly wouldn’t look out of place in a Matrix movie, and has a supreme level of understanding in both spacing and distance control as well to complement his defensive wizardry.

Sunny Edwards vs Andres Campos Expert Prediction

While Edwards does lack power of his own in fights, owning an even lower 21.1% KO percentage than even Campos does, and stopping none of his last eight opponents, he does offset this by being a technical marvel in the ring, befuddling excellent fighters such as Muhammad Waseem and effectively strolling to easy decision victories in fights as a result, with opponents finding it incredibly difficult to land clean on the fighter from South London.

Therefore, it’s no surprise to see Sunny Edwards not only listed as the prohibitive outright favorite ahead of this one, but also to win on points as well, going off at around -2000 at most books currently.

It’s hard to argue with those odds either considering Edwards recent masterful performances in the ring, and while the +600 on Edwards to get the stoppage certainly looks juicy, Campos should have more than enough to see the final bell in this one.

Our recommendation would be to parlay Edwards by decision in with another of your bets on Saturday, as at the current line, it’s simply unbetable from a straight bet perspective this weekend.
