I don’t expect Roman Anthony to play tonight after an early exit last night and he would face a tough left-on-left matchup. That could mean that Story moves up in the batting order and we just need a single to cash this ticket despite the juicy price.
Best MLB Player Props #2: Fernando Tatis Jr San Diego Padres OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145)
Fernando Tatis Jr has been in a groove during the last month as he’s hit .337 with a 1.003 OPS, 8 home runs and 16 RBI. Tatis Jr has covered this HRR line in each of his last five games and 16 of his last 20 games including last night’s effort where he went 2-3 with a solo bomb.
Now Tatis Jr gets another opportunity to feast on Kevin Gausman who he’s gone 8-23 (.348) against with two home runs and a double.
Gausman has been a solid option for the Chicago Cubs, but he hasn’t been as good on the road where he’s posted a 5.40 ERA compared to a 3.83 ERA at home. Current Padres have thrived against Gausman while posting a .272 batting average with 8 home runs across a huge sample size of 212 plate appearances.
The Padres lineup has been in better form, and they rank #4 in wRC+ and #2 in ISO against right-handed pitching during the last 30 days. Tatis will also have opportunities against a Cubs bullpen that ranks 20th in FIP since September 1st.
